Hershey Swap Meet 2013
#1

Not sure if I am in the right topic? Is any one going to the Hershey Swap meet this year? How about the AAA museum and the diner there? It is on Friday night. Anyone know whos 1995 968 will be on display?

I will try to attend if I'm not traveling for work. It will be my first time attending.

still haven't decided. pretty sure i've seen enough rusted parts and i'm really sick of it raining at least one day every single year. also, no driving events attached makes it a pretty dull day.

The Porsche Only Swap Meet, hosted by the Central PA Region, PCA, will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Hershey. More info at www.cpa-pca.org/swap/

The AACA Museum Porsche Style and Design display opened on January 21st and will run through the Swap Meet. On Friday, April 19th, a special Porsche function with guest speaker Karl Ludvigsen, famed author, will be held to kick of the Porsche Swap Meet. More info, and how to purchase tickets for the event, can be found at www.aacamuseum.org

There are currently about 20 rare Porsches on display in the Museum, including a 1994 968 Red Coupe with less than 15,000 miles plus lots of 968 memorabilia. I will be attending the Friday event with Karl Ludvigsen and hope to see many of you there. Otherwise, look forward to seeing you at the Saturday Swap Meet.

Cosimo and Rap, look forward to seeing you both on Friday and meeting Karl Ludvigsen and getting an opportunity to practice my rusty German.

Just checked the 100 day weather report and Hershey looks great for both April 19th and 20th (Fri and Sat) - lol!

By the way, the building behind the group of 968s is the AACA Museum where the Friday event will be held.

Is there a list of vendors who will be there? I'm looking to buy a range of items and I am not sure if I should order from online retailers or just wait until Hershey.

not a lot of real "vendors". they list the individuals as vendors, which is gross misrepresentation. the last time i went there, maybe there were 20-25 actual retailers. of those, maybe a half dozen sold parts. the rest sold toys and stuff. the vast majority were people with their junk on the ground.

You would get the parts you need faster and probably better if you ordered online or at a racing vendor or shop than at Hershey. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool event and one should go of they have never been.

everybody should go once. i've gone at least 4 times, and i'm on this end of the country. i just don't go for any of the stuff there. i go for the people i get to hang out with, and the other activities that have been attached. if i could skip the swap meet and just hook up with everybody and do the drives, i'd go that route.

I agree with Bob, that is funny! My days of putting the time and effort into hosting a large event like the 2 day Celebrations are over. However, you can catch me in Hershey on Friday, April 19 at the AACA Museum eating German food and beer with Karl Ludvigsen and checking out the beautiful Porsches on dislay in the museum. Sat, April 20 I will scouting the Swap for some Porsche memorabilia, although I probably do not need it - lol!

Is there going to be a separate parking area for 968's this year? How does one enter the Concours? Thanks

I lost my appetite for promoting or organizing any events in Hershey after they accused me of lying and stealing money from children with Cancer...good luck in the rain.
