I can hear (and feel in my foot a little) a low rattle kind of sound that occurs on right turns when I accelerate through the turn with my 1994 968 cab. The sound seems to come from the right front of the car. It sounds like the exhaust or some engine or wheel part rattling against something. I had read on the forum about possible front wheel bearing issues, and I checked the outer ones both sides, regreased and adjusted...no issues and wheels don't rock or make noise. Nothing seems mechanically amiss. This only occurs under engine load, not when I coast around a corner. The car is lowered. The sound stops when the wheel is straightened. Hard to describe the sound, but is more like vibration with a low rattle. Sorry, best I can do! Any ideas?

2 things come to mind.
First is possible heat shield, there is one on the right front and mine cracked also.
Second is Caster blocks, a known failure point at the rear of the A arm.
Both are pretty easy to check out.
Regards,
Jay

Thanks, I'll check out the heat shield. Caster blocks were replaced not long ago. Could it possibly be a motor mount? I listened again today...only the rumbly noise when accelerating through right turn, not coasting or light accelerator. Gets louder the harder I goose it. You can usually feel a motor mount...if its just noise try the simple things first.

Thanks for the input. I did start looking for the simple stuff this morning, and I may be on to something. The power steering hose that has a plastic spiral wrap on it is nearly in contact with the oil filter and is sandwiched inbetween the filter and the second power steering hose, which is mounted to the frame. I felt the plastic spiral wrap and it does have a worn spot where the filter is as if it has been rubbing quite a bit. If the motor is moving closer to the frame on a right turn, could that be causing the rumble/rattle? Easy to check out and will do so today. See attached photo.

Well, that wasn't it! I moved the hose out of the way with a cable tie, and still have the noise. I drove around a bit more, and really paid attention. I can feel it very slightly in the steering wheel and throttle, perhaps through the frame. The rumble sounds more like an intermittent close contact, like exhaust or muffler near a frame; like rough metal on heavy metal or metal vibrating on metal. Very low pitch, like if your muffler was just touching the frame. Maybe like a heat shield rattling against the engine or frame as has been mentioned, so I'll check that out today too. Is there a shield or exhaust pipe that would tend to make contact more on a right turn under load, perhaps with the engine pitching slightly? Again, it only does this with the engine under load turning fairly hard right. This is mucho frustrating but doesn't seem too serious right now!
Hey Jay, we know some folks that live in Bucks County as I recall, name of Bamford. He drives a Honda S2000 for fun. Don't suppose you know of them. Beautiful country out there.
