Just sold the 968
#1

The new owenr of my 968 just left my house. It is a sad moment, but i have had a couple of months to get used to the idea.[Image: sad.gif]

I have been using the 968 as my DD since August, and it was driving me nuts. I absolutely loved this car, more than any other Porsche I have had before, but as a family car with a second child on the way it was just not cutting it.

I hope to buy another Porsche in a couple of years and I still plan to bring my 356 to the Nehterlands. To function as my new DD I have bought an 2002 Audi A4 Convertable with a 2.4 V6.

I will still look into this foum from time to time, because weening myself of the 968 culture is going to be even tougher than selling my car[Image: wink.gif]

Now you have to keep your eyes open for your NEXT 968

I most probably will be buying a 968 again in the future. I am not done playing with the 968.[Image: wink.gif]I will do it differently though...next time I will buy a beater rather than a pristine example. I will overhaul all the mechanicals and build a Turbo RS replica. My car was simply too good to bastardise it.

Yes, sorry to see you go. I'm sure my rear wiper blade is what sealed the deal

You had mentioned that you have some wheel caps laying around. I'll send you a PM, as I'm interested in a couple of them. Thanks.

I was hoping to meet you in the spring if the trip to Europe with my family does actually happen! Well, maybe we still can meet (along with some other Dutch 968 owners) and share memories!

Hope to see you poking around and assisting in answering questions if you have expertise on the subject!

@Cloud - LOL I am sure that was the deal clejcher too! Let me know about the caps, I have coloured ones and ones with a black crest

@Langley - I will be around, just cause I don't have a 968 anymore doesn't mean I will disapear!

I am also ready to let go of my spare temperature display. I bought it on eBay a couple of years ago as a backup. If anyone needs one let me know.

Sad to see you go but you WILL be back. Trust me, the kids grow up in no time and you will be wondering why you have a back seat in your DD again

Didn't know it was for sale. Was it posted here or were you afraid we would talk you out of it ?

Let the new owner know about the forum.

Sad to see you go Johann, but still two kids in the back will fit till they are 12 years old............. Thats why a 968 is so practical. After a long day drive you are still driving a hatchback.....

Thats why I bought it as a second car. The C5 is for the holidays and family affairs.

Johann,

This is very sad news. It is clear you loved that car, both by what you said about it and what you did for it.

Your car was beautiful and I hope the new owner is worthy.

Please try to make good on your promise to visit the forum in the future.

Your input has always been informative and good spirited, and I will miss it.

I am already missing it,[Image: sad.gif]

I was trying to hang on to it till the last minute, but in the end I had no choice. I did not want to do 30k per year in it. I love the 968 as a toy but not as a DD. So I had to buy another car. It is already a huge luxury to have parking for a second car in the centre of Utrecht (a medievel city). For the priveledge of a third parking spot you need to wait 8 years for a permit or need to be seriously wealthy and buy a property with a large enough garage to park two cars...that will cost in the region of 2 million euros. Needless to say I am not there yet[Image: wink.gif]

If I can ever convince my wife to move out to the country, I will have a whole shed full of toys, but for now memories will have to keep me going.

Congratulations for finally selling the 968, as far as I remember you were having the idea of selling her already when my car was discussed in the dutch Porsche forum 5 or 6 months ago.

Hope you got a good price for your car.

I can fully understand the decision not to use a 968 (in very good conditions, like yours) for DD purposes, specially in the Netherlands traffic conditions.

Cheers,

Jörg
