shorter and tighter throws mean less hunting for a gear - it also means faster shifts - on the freeway, or in normal driving, this is a non-issue, but in a canyon, a fraction of a second can mean the difference between getting the gear at the right time, and not - this can be the difference between spinning out and not
if you are still stopping at neutral in your shifting, or it is not one smooth motion but more like 3 independent shifter movements, or you find your shifting to be "push clutch-shift-release clutch", rather than a single simultaneous action coordinating shifting with the clutch, then this is clearly not an issue for you, and you probably won't enjoy the benefits
with any shorter shifter setup, whether via a kit in the rear or a shorter shifter, at a bare minimum, the amount of extra force required will be proportional to the amount of pattern size decrease
