Hey Brian- Great, I'm glad it's finally there! Sorry for my delay...
Re the instructions- I did the CD so that I could add things as I went & b/c AFTER Andre Ruest did his instructions, I really liked them w/all the pics, but they were over 20 pages long. So, I just did the CD, where I could add both sets of instructions & people could print whatever page from whichever set they wanted, if they wanted...
I have not yet installed battery cables on a 968, unfortunately, nor do I know of a 968-specific write-up, but it would be a good thing to have. Mine covers all 86 & up 944/951's & I'm pretty sure even pre-86's. I'm sorry- I know this does not help you. Several things are different in the 968 engine bay, but should not affect installation too much....
Andre Ruest's instructions are way more elaborate & show you the most comprehensive way, as well as the most pics, etc. Great method, but much longer. Charly (my helper) & I have only done 3 cars so far- it gets easier, of course, but I don't honestly remember the details on what was removed, except to say that we've been leaving the fuel rail all hooked up & together & simply move it aside but not disconnected. I'll ask Charly (my helper on this) to be sure & I'll try to post back tommorrow night b/c I can't remember on the manifold. I know we had removed the aluminum coolant tubes on the first car, but I don't think we did on the last one- Dan Wray always said you could access the alternator w/out removing them- getting to the alt is the biggest PITFA of the whole deal IMO.
I would say that a semi-skilled do-it-yourselfer can handle this & WE have done all 3 of our jobs on jack-stands, in a normal garage, so while it would make it easier, a lift is not neccessary.
You should definitely be able to install the main [+] cable from battery to starter, the supplemental [+] from battery to fuse box & the [-] cables. The tough one is the main [+] from starter to alternator, but pulling the Exciter & solenoid wires through (w/the wires I have embedded in the ExFlex for you) is much easier than it sounds once you have the stuff out & ready to go. You should also be able to do the supplemental ground unless getting to that area is tougher on a 968.
YOU have both the regular supplemental ground & the supplemental [+], but NOT the short ground. It was something I had added for the 944/951- it would not work for the 968 at all. For awhile there, I had a lot of requests for extra grounds from 951 & 968 guys & I got a little ground-happy. I came up w/the short ground for my car & it really seemed like a cool idea for a FEW reasons. It ended up being really pricey & tough to make & while I still liked it, Charly tried one & had some funny noises- he was 99% sure it was b/c of this ground, so I put it on hold until I could get more feedback. I sent out 5 or 6, but so far, no one's told me anything, so it's discontinued for now. It won't fit on 968's, so it's really not an issue here.
So, you have the following:
1- 1awg main [+] for battery to starter- it's the larger [+] cable connected to the [+] clamp
1- 4awg supplemental [+] cable for battery to fuse box- it's the smaller [+] cable connected to the [+] clamp (this confuses some people- it's the one w/the 150amp fuse.
1- 4awg main [+] cable for starter to alternator- fuse is 175amp but is covered w/ExFlex.
1- 1awg 2-pc main [-] cable
1- 4awg supplemental ground
2 rubber boots- 1 red & 1 black
1 tube of dielectric grease (maybe 50% actually use it, but Dan included it, so I did too).
2 cushioned clamps
Several cable ties
A few chassis cable ties- these don't fit like stock- I added them in case you accidentally break the stock ones.
1 small piece of sanding sponge
1 piece of slit plastic tubing
1- 2" long SS bolt/nut/washer (for emergency use in case the supp [+] fuse blows- This was Dan's idea)
Several pieces of heatshrink for the open ExFlex ends on the 4awg main [+] cable (starter to alternator) AFTER you have pulled the exciter & solenoid wires through w/the fish wire...
IF you are missing anything from this list, let me know & I'll get it out to you. I tried, but I'm not perfect...
The supplemental ground fits in the same place on 968s as on 944's. About the only thing I've done different from Dan is to use smaller diameter ExFlex on cables where I can. He only used 1/2" & 5/8" on his cables (might not have had many choices?). I found some 7/16" & have used it & it makes routing these cables through the engine bay a LOT easier. I got the idea from input from other end users & it helps a lot.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! I have also used the same smaller sized ExFlex on the supplemental [+] cable & am also using a slightly smaller diameter grommet. PLEASE SIZE YOUR HOLE ACCORDINGLY! I meant to change this in the instructions but I have not yet... I think it's somewhere around 5/8". I've always drilled a hair small & bored out as I went when installing grommets, but do NOT drill the same size hole that Dan says to (in either of the instructions) or it will be TOO BIG!!! I looked for 6 months to find those grommets & couldn't, so it didn't matter anyway, but using the smaller one makes for a smaller hole in your car, which I think is a good thing.
Sorry this got so long- I'll get back to you on the fuel rail / manifold removal, etc, questions soon & try to post here...

I just got my set today. They look great!
I do have some questions:
1- The installation instructions are for a 944 and a 1986 944 turbo. Is there an photo installation instruction sheet specifically for the 968?
Has anyone on this site done a photo DIY?
2- In the kit that I have, does it have the supplemental positive cable; supplemental ground cable or the supplemental short ground?
3- Is this a DIY for an average wrench without a lift?
4- Does the intake manual and the fuel rail and all of the stuff that the instructions sheets say? If so, that is too big a job for me.
thanks
