I found another 15-25hp in the SC kit.

i won't really know what happens until i test it, but i expect the torque curve to go up proportionally.

just so that people don't worry about cooking the supercharger, i wanted to assure everyone that i will not be increasing boost, nor spinning the unit any faster. the adiabatic efficiency will not change.

on that subject, a lot of nonsense has been tossed around lately about adiabatic efficiency, and has included some slagging of the rotrex. i thought i would set the record straight. the unit we use is capable of 80% efficiency, and we are staying well into the comfortable zone. i have yet to see any data for the raptor, other than an unsubstantiated claim of 85% from somebody who clearly has not been able to put the kit together successfully. i have searched but cannot find anything, and given that it is air cooled, i tend to think it is hooey.

here is the chart for the rotrex.

barely. waiting on a couple of small parts the ended up needing to be replaced. really annoying insignificant parts, but needed nonetheless. should be finished the beginning of next week.

lol - yeah - turns out my waterpump was garbage after only 25k miles. bearing sounded horrible and there was quite a bit of play in the shaft. it was a laso. i won't be buying another one of those.

the studs that hold the tensioner on were also not in great shape.

pump arrives today. studs tomorrow. the rest of the engine is done.

Good feedback on the pump! Mine is a Laso right now, with 5K on it. So far so good, but that's not an item to save money on!

apparently this is a common issue with laso. the 928 guys had an even worse experience with that brand. theirs used to dig into the block until laso changed the design. seems they haven't fixed the 968 one, or at least not at the time i got mine.

i ordered a genuine porsche pump - new. as it turned out, it was actually less expensive than a laso.

Really? *sigh*. I just put a Laso on mine as well. It had a metal impeller on it, but it didn't look to be the same design as the one that was digging into the block. IIRC, that one had exposed impeller fins. This looked like the original plastic impeller, just made out of metal.

Not a big deal I suppose, since I'll probably pull the engine in about two couple years for oil leak repairs and general clean up. If it's bad, I'll replace it again with a genuine porsche part.

I wasn't real happy with the casting process on that pump, I had to file a couple bits off on the mating surface to ensure a proper fit. Did you get your Porsche pump from Sunset?
