I can't get ahold of my mechanic, so I will try here. My front lower sway bar keeps coming loose. It was tightened up a few months ago, but has since then managed to come loose. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what did you do to fix? Lock Tight? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The right side is coming loose, at the end, I would guess. Easy to remedy, but I really don't want to have to go under my car every couple months to tighten things up.

I would say at the minimum replace the nut - and use lock-tite blue when you put it back together.



And no, haven't had the problem...do you have an out of balance condition on that wheel? An out of round rim maybe?

I just got the bushings to replace them on my sway bar and I was advised to replace the 2 nuts that hold the brackets. Cheap solutiuon to an important part.

the bushings tend to let the bar slide back and forth when they get old - this is a very bad thing from a handling perspective



it gets worse when you go to a hardened bushing like delrin - i came up with a modofication system that keeps them quiet and centered, but this mod is not for everyone



at a minimum, replace your rubber bushings with new ones - all rubber components in the suspension should have been replaced at least once by now, and are due for a second change - they are only good for 5-8 years - sway bar bushings take a heavy beating and wear out rather quickly



take a close look at the threads when you take everything apart - renew if worn - run a die down them and a tap in the holes at a minimum - also apply a bit of loctite if you need to - a jam nut would also be a way to keep it on there

I had a similar problem (front bar "walking"). My issue was solved with:



1) Replace the bushings (cheap, easy) as they are likely BEAT

2) Install the front sway-bar braces, I think from KLA Industries (their website is not working tonight for me www.klaindustries.net). These triangulate the support for the swaybar and TOTALLY did the trick for me.



I've raced the car quite a bit since doing the above and have had ZERO walking of the bar.



Make sure you replace any missing cir-clips on the ends of the bar (I know the M030 front bar has these, not sure if stock bar does. There would be a groove in the end of the bar into which cir-clip slides). Be careful to center the whole thing nicely before tightening all the bushings up.



Nice part is that the whole thing can be done with car on ramps (suspension loaded and safer - I like safer).

Paragon Products carries the KLA items too. Here's a description (hope the pic shows up).



The front sway bar on the 944/968 is designed with the attach points being on the end of a long bracket. This bracket has the possibility of flexing forward and backward in a hard turn. If this bracket moves it will allow additional body roll in a turn. KLA Industries has developed a bracket that will triangulate this bracket to the frame to prevent any movement during a hard turn. The brace secures the mount points of the sway bar so it is held as secure as the rear sway bar. This allows the sway bar to work as it was designed to work and allows it to maintain the body roll properly. Sold per pair.

i have braces extremely similar to those, but got them from tarret engineering - they work very well - it was suprising to see how much flex there was in the stock bracket

I usually order that stuff through Paragon Products. If dealers have it in stock, price is not outrageous, and I'm in a hurry... I pick them up local sometimes.
