Front a-arm bushing replacement
#1

So I had red weltmiester bushings in the front of my a-arms for a while and never liked them. They fit terrible and are all torn up. So I bought the Racer's Edge bushings since they were only a couple bucks more than the stock ones. Do I need to take the steel sleeves out of the control arms though? I had left them in for the weltmeisters, and I think that may have been my problem. I don't want to cut them out though only to find the hole for the bushings is then too big...

Thanks!

The steel sleeves come out. It's a bear of a job, though. Be prepared for a few hours of pounding with the heaviest hammer you have.

unlike the 944, i am not aware of the front control arm bushing (the one at the front of the front control arm) being sold separately by porsche. i sure can't find a part number for it. the caster block yes (the one at the rear of the front control arm).

if you are removing the front control arm bushing, it is indeed a pain in the butt. the sleeves are 2 halves, and it is a royal pain to get the first half out. i installed spherical monoblocks there and had to replace them recently. they are not well suited to street duty. unfortunately i am now stuck with them, unless i want to buy new control arms.

So the new bushing sits directly into the aluminum arm, correct?

And the 968 arms use the same bushing as later 944s. My 87 had a mostly rubber bushing while later ones including the 968 have more metal and the rubber in-between is much less.

Congrats - How long did it take you? I must have pounded on mine for two hours per bushing, although it seemed more like six! I have Racers Edge bushings on mine as well, and I'm very happy with them so far - no noise, and I can't say I notice any harshness that I can attribute specifically to them.

Well under an hour for both. Once the old rubber was out, I cut a slot in the sleeves with a hack saw. Beat one half out, pressed the other half out.

I have a 1994/1995 coupe with original suspension bushings. The odometer reading is 107k. Is there a single source besides Porsche to purchase replacement bushings for the suspension, etc. I do not necessarily wish to upgrade since the car is rarely driven on the track. Or can you provide a list of the bushings to replace like control arms, sway bars, etc.

Same answer as the 2 other places you posted...do you see a pattern here?
