Front Engine Cover Brackets?
#1

I have a 1994 car with no front engine cover.  I have searched the forum and realize I can just lay it in there, but I do want brackets.  I can fabricate, but is there a part number for the bracket?  or was it part of the stamping?  I have searched the parts book but can't seem to see anything in that area that looks right, and the descriptions aren't great.  Or anyone have a photo of the factory bracket that i can use as a model?  thanks, Tom

Mine has the brackets as part of the car, i can only take them away with a grinder or some other tool.

So i supose you have to fabricate them yourself.

I can take some pictures for you after the weekend, i'm in the north of france at the moment and heading back tomorrow again.

I never understood why some cars did have the cover and others didn't, exept maybe for the CS's to lose some weight.

Regards,

Jack

Is this what you are looking for? Front cover brackets, left and right.

Bob Larson (Flash) probably can give you the numbers. I bought mine from him but I did not save the part number bag it came in.

The engine bay looks so much more complete with the covers in.

And those covers have the real glove compartment ( literally ). So buy a set of mechanics gloves and put them in there. Not sure but I think the OE was a set of white gloves .

Years before I had the SC installed in my 94 ( that years 968s no longer had the covers ) I bought a cover and had it secured in place by two small rubber pucks , I bought at a hardware store, one on each side mounted against the frame . And yes, the cover will stay in place without anything at all, but itll have a little play, unless you use something to keep it pressed in.

Nice, complete engine bay look , IMO.

The covers were on early (92-93) cars, late cars (94-95) did not have the installed from the factory. It was a running change, so there will be some model year cross over. The brackets are spot welded on, but are just an L bracket with two holes. You only need one hole and would be easy to make, then you could use the quarter turn fasteners at the top (rear) of the front cover and bolt the brackets to the inner fender.  The front of the front cover has a rubber seal that wedges between the top of the radiator and the front bumper, holding the cover pretty securely.
