YIKES MY FRONT END STABILIZING BAR WAS JUST HANGING
#1

I took my car 1995 coupe into my mechanic to have new motor mounts installed, as noted on another thread. My mounts, while they looked fine had actuallly collasped in height under the weight of the engine. This is a part worth noting to be replaced.

But the scary thing where the end of the stabilizing bar slips into a rubber bushing had literilly unwraped allowing the stablilizing bar on the right side of the car to be hanging in space not attached to anything. It is called a bush on the PET parts catagouge illustration 402-05 part number 951 343 075 00 While you would think the bush which forms a circle would have been a piece of steel welded into a round circle, it is not welded but effectivly wraped into a circle allowing the rubber bushing to be inserted into the hole. My car is a M030 suspension so my bar is a 30 mm while the normal suspension bar is only a 26.8 bar.

we've been warning people about the motor mounts for years. they are oil filled, and degrade gradually. there is a minimum spec for height, and we should all be inspecting that periodically.

as for the sway bar bushing, it is very common for the driver side bushing to pop out of there, due to power steering leaks. the bushings are complete circles, as are the end links into which they go. the item to which you refer is supposed to be a closed full circle. if yours is not, then it is defective or broken.

note: the center bushings are also completely circular, but the bracket is only a wrap around design. again, any oil leaks that get on these bushings will soften the rubber, and allow them to work their way out of the bracket.
