valve cover gasket
#1

So my as......le mechanic went to replace my valve cover gasket and didn't notice that the bolts were different lengths. Any way to easily figure out which bolt goes where?

Try looking in psrts manual, that may show bolt sizes,

I believe there are only 2 different lenghts. The four longer ones (or was it shorter??) go on the four corners. It has been a while, but I think and hope that my memory serves me right.

Make sure your mechanic uses a torque wrench to tighten them or he will be entering a whole new level of as...leness very soon. These things can snap pretty easily.

there are only 2 lengths.  it is pretty easy to figure out what goes where.  the short ones won't thread into the long spots and the long ones stick way out in the short spots

a big YES on the torque wrench, and it has to be one that goes VERY light.  those things are incredible brittle.

be prepared that the rubber bits that go on those bolts may have hardened, and be now useless, and need renewing

also, make sure he uses the sealant in the corners, or you will be doing it all again.

it is also important that he change the o-rings at the spark plug holes, or you will be doing it again
