Door locks
#1

Ok, I have been having issues with the door unlocking by themselves for awhile now. I will lock them, the alarm will activate and I will leave. When I return (sometimes as quick as 5 mins, sometimes hours) the locks will be open and the alarm will be off.

First, should the key manually lock the doors even if the power lock system is unplugged? I took out the control unit, but the doors wouldn't lock with the key.

Second, is there any way to test the lock control unit? When I have it out, nothing works, as I would guess. I'm not sure if the control unit is the reason for the issues though.

So far I have switched the driver side microswitch and made sure the door contact switches work (ones that tell the car if the door is open). The PO had a keyless system, that when my issue started I had removed (but I can't say the wiring is perfectly back to OEM). I have heard there is a relay for the locks, but I can't find it (looked over all the labeled relays and don't see one for the locks). Any suggestions on what I can do next? I am willing to buy a new control unit, but if that doesn't fix it I just wasted a lot of money and still have the issue.

Any thought? PLEASE!

Thank you!

yes, the doors should lock, even with the battery disconnected, though you have to rotate the key the other way to do it

it is possible that your keyless system is grounding out - i had that happen, and the locks would unlock all by themselves - i have no idea where they may have tapped the system though

any of the pin switches or lines to them can cause weird things to happen if they are not perfect - the hatchback wire is a known problem area
