Door pins stopped blinking & central locking dead!
#1

Hi guys,

My door pins have recently stopped blinking every time I lock the car. Also, my central locking doesn't seem to be working either. I lock the driver's door but the passenger door doesn't follow. It requires me to lock it separately. The two issues seem to have cropped up right about the same time.

Anyone know what this could be? After recently fixing my turn signal problem by simply replacing the relay, I'm crazy enough to think that my door locks issue can be solved with the similar amount of effort <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

cheers,

could easily be - i would start though by yanking every one of them and cleaning the contacts of the relays and the sockets with a good contact cleaner - same thing with each fuse (remembering that yanking the radio fuse will probably cause the memory in the radio to be lost)

Any specific relay you would start with?

You spray contact cleaner into the sockets? I thought about that but that cleaner is hexane or something nasty that I thought might eat away the rubber and foam bits that I might hit while I was blasting the socket.

Mine recently started doing the same thing out of the blue. Nothing had been recently changed at all. The only difference I can see is that my door pins still blink. Other than that, driver door locks and unlocks fine but the passenger door doesn't follow suit. Central locking button only does driver door as well. Manually unlocking the passenger door works fine and also unlocks the driver door like normal. From that info, I gather that the mechanical linkage in the passenger door is fine so it must be some sort of relay/fuse/electrical issue between the central locking system and the passenger door. I'll check out the relays and fuses tomorrow and report back with what I found.

Ok. I know it took a little longer than I said but: 1. I hate the cold. 2. I live in Florida because of said hate of the cold. 3. Florida has been cold the past few weeks and I didn't want to be working outside. Having said that, today was a beautiful day and I decided to tackle the project. First, I checked the fuses and relays. All good and the passenger lock still didn't function correctly. Next,I disassembled both door panels to see if anything obvious jumped out at me. Both lock linkages worked correctly and nothing appeared out of place. Passenger lock STILL didn't work correctly. Then I disassembled the center console and checked the central locking switch. Nothing appeared out of place but the passenger lock began to operate correctly. Go figure. I wish I had more of an answer for everybody but sometimes that how things work out. Good luck with your own project.
