My car recently had a electrical meltdown (yes the one I bought from Pete) and now all is fixed. A completely new alarm module was installed as well as approximately 19 wires which melted. But my door lock pins or buttons, the ones with the LED's will not light up at all with the door locked by the key which is what activates the alarm, and the LED's to light. When I use the key on the drivers side it opens and closes both doors. But If I use the key on the passenger side it only opens or locks the passenger door not both. (a condition which was previous to the electrical meltdown). Also the switch inside mounted on the console which is to either lock or unlock both doors does something strange. it will only lock or unlock the passenger door. Any Ides?

bummed you had a problem - that's an oddball issue for sure

sounds like you still have a harness that is not happy - i suspect a sub connector along the harness

is there an aftermarket stereo in the car? if so, i suspect they buggered a connection when messing with the doors, though the sub connectors are known to get wonky on their own

Here goes
Symptom: Passenger door only unlocks
Cause: The micro switch in the door handle of the passenger side is faulty, or its signal is not being received by the control unit.

Symptom : Central switch only affects the passenger door
Cause : The actuator in the drivers door is faulty, or it is not receiving the signal from the control unit

Symptom : Drivers key operates both doors
Reason : The Microswitch in the driver's door handle is working and sending the signal to the control unit. The unit then triggers the actuators to lock/unlock. If however, your driver side actuator is faulty, then the key is unlock/locking door mechanicaly.


As you are suffering from all three issues a process of elimination tells me it might be only the acuator in the driver side that is not working.
Basically, using the passenger side microswitch is triggering the actuators (driver side fails)
Using the central switch triggers the actuators (driver side fails)
Using the key on the driver side, triggers the actuators (drivers sides fails, the key lock/unlocks mechanically)

There is an after market radio but all they (CAR TOYS) did as far as what they told me they did was to take a harness opposite to the one that was already in the car. figure which was the power ground front speakers left right mid speakers left Right and rear speakers and hook their wires to those wires opposite to the same positions on the plug. Then they plugged to two halves together and the radio worked. But more importantly how is the radio tied into the alarm circuits or the door buttons?

the radio isn't - the speakers would be, if they had to get into the doors - they might have messed up the lock harness

a thought occurred to me - one thing that could tie the radio to the alarm is if they tapped the alarm power for the radio - i've heard of that being done by some aftermarket stereo shops who don't know better

the alarm circuit is current draw sensitive, and would not be happy if there was additional draw on it

Thanks for all the tips. I finally picked up the car today and all is fixed. The LED problem was a bad fuse terminal. The lock problem turned out to be a broken hot wire. It seems that there are two hot wires in the car going in two different directions. It turned out that one of these had a broken wire. Now it is fixed and the electrical is 100% back to normal.

yeeha!!! very happy that turned out to be that simple - having seen the wiring diagrams on this car, and just how convoluted the system is, i'm surprised we don't all have a lot more problems
