My inspection cap is missing. Seems thats pretty common. I have ordered a new but while I there what should I look on the clutch?



Is there something I should measure or otherwise check.

Yea...the Workshop Manual has a foto of what it's supposed to look like but I don't remember. The manual should be available online. See DIY section.

Yes, you can measure from the end tip of the slave piston (back side of fork" to the far edge of inspection port, use a socket, this will give you the clutch plate wear. I don't remember the exact number but it should be greater (?) than 37 mm (?). I THINK that is the correct figure, anything less indicates a new clutch plate is needed.



Confirm those figures, I'm not sure about them.

These inspection plugs seem to be missing on 90% of all our cars.



While you have it opened you should shoot some good lubricant up there. The fork and needle bearings tend to rust up.
