#1

My cabs rear area is badly faded. Can't seem to find carpet set anywhere.

Anyone ever try dying their carpet?

My dad worked for a company that, among other things, sold dye kits and training to carpet cleaning companies to repair sun faded and bleach-stained carpets. Their shtick was color matching mainly. Dyeing should be pretty straightforward if you can match the color. My carpet is pretty faded too but I'm not sure if I want to mess with it. Maybe before the snow hits I could whip out the seats and try redying the carpet so it has a long time to dry while the car is off the road.

A quick web search reveals lots of carpet dye options.

Keep us posted Joel. I to am interested in upgrading the carpet but I am pretty sure I don't want to rip out the old stuff based on xrad's experience. Too much time and effort for an old lazy SOB like me.

I wonder what a restorer would charge for that job. I recall reading posts that estimated somewhere between 40 and 100 hours to complete. Anyone have an idea of who would actually do the carpet replacement?
