hatchback carpet fastners
#1

P-Dealer charges $7 each for a carpet fastner, and for the "privilege" of paying that much for a piece that should not cost more than
$ 0.25 even if it had a hand painted Porsche crest on it , the wait is 4-6 weeks because they are not stocked in the U.S. anymore and have to be ordered from Germany ! So I made a round of calls to salvage yerds, there were a few available here and there but only in black - grey is nowhere to be found. Sheesh, I might have to get the black and paint them grey - talk about a miniature art project - unless I can find very similar fastners at some Toyota or BMW, or what-not dealers that will fit just the same and are already in grey.

Same story ( actually worse ) with the small plastic screw covers that go on the door panels, and rear window panels - available only in Germany, but they no longer make anything other than black.

unfortunately this is the nature of the beast with an old car - parts fall out of production at an alarming rate once they get to a certain age

parts like this though are pretty standard, and it really annoys me that they charge that much for them - you should be able to get something similar and functional from any upholstery supply shop

i'll call my guy later today and see where he suggests

I am in the same boat, so add me to the list. I've already picked up some black screw covers and such and will get a can of Gray SEM vinyl paint. I'll let everyone know how it comes out! It hasn't been fun trying to find Marine Blue bits and pieces for the cab either.

Guys, all these parts you are mentioning are seriously cheap here in the Netherlands. I actually ordered 20 of each a while ago...wanted to make sure I have enough for the futrure, but I am pretty sure they were no where near $7 a piece.

I can ask for prices and if the price + postage to the US is viable i could drop them in envelopes and send them to you. Let me know which colours, or even better the part number and how many and I will get you prices.

@daryl I have midnight blue caps, they is still available from Porsche. It might be a match. I will wnquire about Marine blue too if you want.

Maybe Porsche's OEM for these accessories is in The Netherlands and that's why they're cheap and readily available there ?

I'm in the market for about 6 grey fastners and four grey screw caps.. would be happy to pay for them, it's just that
I resent paying the Porsche dealer for their silly pricing schemes and to add insult to injury wait 4-6 weeks for them..

Johann, yes the clips are marble grey and the plugs are classic grey. Many thanks, just let me let me know when you find out and then we'll figure out the "logistics" and small details via email, PM, etc..

Pat, if you have extra ones at home you're not planning to keep as spares ( I can always keep a couple as back-ups when I break the next one.. ), so ditto on the message above to Johann ..

FYI,
I got 5 classic grey carpet clips from Sunset in April. They got them in a day.
I don't remember the price, but I am sure it was less than $7/clip.

Wow, what a response! I forgot to add that we need to add 19% VAT to these prices and using regular post to the US is going to be 3 Euro unless you want more than 250g of parts. But I don't think any of you will exceed that .

Please PM me with you requirements and let me know if regular mail is OK for you, I will put them in a padded envelope.
