Brake Pad Warning Light
#1

I posted this at 968.net as well.

My brake pad warning light will not turn off. All of the pads have well more than half pad remaining.

I disconnected the sensors and that didn't work.

I disconnected the sensors from the pads and connected the wires together to complete the loop (circuit) and that didn't work.

I'm assuming that when ground is made on any of the 8 pad sensors (when a brake pad wears down to the point the rotor wears down the plastic connector to and through the wire sheathing) the cluster light illuminates. I’m just guessing this is how the sensors work. If anyone knows differently please let me know.

Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this?

The warning system needs a complete circuit all around the car to be happy. If there is a break in any of the wires then the light turns on, such as what happens when the pad wears to a point where the sensor is worn out and the circuit opens. There is a broken wire somewhere.

I had the same problem. It was solved be cleaning all of the chassis ground points in the car.

Check this forum for a post that showed all of them.
