Brake coolers
#1

Guys, do you know the brake coolers that we ofetn see on 964's and 993's placed on the front fender, replacing the original light, it has a hole, and a little light aside. I think its normal on the 993 TT.

Is there anything similar for the 968?

Where can we find it?

regards to everybody

I think you can rework the 993 unit to fit.

I live in Brazil man, its not easy to be a POrsche enthusiast over here, so i appreciate the help.

Thanks a lot,

Try A.I.R. I think they make them in FRP.

If you refer to the units that replace our foglights...then I will tell you the 993 units work just fine.

That is exactly what I did for my car. Removed the foglights and replace them with the 993 brake cooling duct units...

Got them from Paragon, I think.

Seeing as the 968 was never designed with these in mind, I take it they're not actually functional in cooling the brakes? And that the 911s that they're normally fitted to normally have some ducting directing the air to the brakes?

Helps save a bit of weight, I guess!

Marv,

That's not true...What you do is attach ducting and route it to the brakes...

It's not to save weight...That's why we removed the headlight assemblies! Now, that saves weight.

those look like "one-bulb" lights - are they only one beam, or is there a "hi-lo"? if it's only one beam, do you have it connected to the low beam or high beam?

i would do them if i could figure out a way to keep both the fog and driving light features - if it's only one beam, i'm not sure where i would add the second beam

If I'm not mistaken our cars have plastic brake cooling fins right in front of the wheels - it forces cool air onto the brakes from underneath the car. The undertray seems to be designed to force some air under the car.

Do you think the bumper brake ducts are more effective? Or do you think they add to what we already have?

if they contain the air and direct it to the brake outside the engine bay, they would be effective - the pieces we haev now require the air to deflect to get to the rotor, thereby being less effective than a duct with a hose right onto the rotor, but a whole lot better than nothing
