Belt Squel
#1

In Dallas today we had some serious rain storms that resulted in lots of local street flooding. I was on my way into the office and was forced to go through some spots with 1 foot deep + standing water. After I got through these areas I would hear a squelling noise coming from the front drivers side engine compartment area. It would start off high pitched, then drop down and raise back up. It only lasted for 2 or 3 seconds. Anyone have any idea what this would be? I am assuming some water just splashed up in the engine compartment but wanted to make sure I didn't have any kind of major issue.

Sounds to me like wet belts (and loose maybe), keep an ear out; if the noise happens more often then time for new belts.

I'd vote for belts that are a little loose, and when wet they slipped. At the least, inspect and tighten.
