Carls setup is not the same as the one I have in my conversion which is basicly an SFR-Kit with some changes in piping, intercooler brackets and position, but still (see also my tread). I run up to about 0.6Bar of boost right now and I have no overheating issues also at ambient temperatures going up to about 30°C. And this is still running a bit too lean for my taste...
I do not know how it works on a track, but really not a point for me.

I would think you would need a custom tune to make the best of it with your mods.

Personally I would always check at least AFR and the knock-signal after major changes like this, whenever possible also Intake temps and EGT... I am sure Carls solution with the FMU works great on that car but you have to be sure the injectors are flowing well and the fuelpump is still up to the job (check fuel pressure). After that is clear: have fun!

I can not say how long my / your car will run like this, but there is always the possibility of something letting go; stock or modified, nobody can give you any warrenty or take away your personal responsebility. If you should be afraid of blowing the engine, do not trust the developpers competence and the messurements you do after installation, you probably should stay stock...

with a stock motor, i have no issues trusting any of these supercharger kits. I'm running 11.6:1 compression among many other things. I would imagine, my car would make some serious power with the addition of a blower....but don't think it would last long.

fox - you would have some fairly serious limitations without making some changes to the setup - that's really high compression - boosting that gets pretty scarey

bumping compression is a way we have always gotten a bit more power out of a normally aspirated engine - going from 11:1 to 11.6:1 might have given you as much as about 15 hp,which is a nice bump - but it pretty much robs you of about half of the boost of this kit unless you add some timing control to correct for it, which would be about 20-25hp based on these numbers

frustrating, isn't it? this is one i have been wrestling with one way or another for almost 6 years now, trying to figure out the best way to get the magic 300hp

Fox, I use an SMT6 (Piggyback) from Vitesse racing to control fueling and ignition as I have no possebility to direct program the ECU... works great for me

Yes, it does because we are instructing you to wire it into the OEM wiring harness. So it has the original controls, relay, wiring and temp switches all in play and it behaves accordingly.

As to the longevity of the clutch and tires. I have noticed no clutch slippage and I have been hard on it.
Let me ask you: does the 951 have a stronger OEM clutch than the 968? That may be your hint.

And yes - I expect you to need to replace tires more often. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

yes, the 951 has a stronger clutch disk - unfortunately we cannot fit that into our car without some pretty serious modification - we spent quite a bit of time and money trying, only to fail - we did come up with something stronger, but it only works with the 17lb flywheel

the OEM unit is not up to big power increases if you shift hard and fast, especially if you have a 12lb flywheel - i've blown up 2 now at the power level i have

still working on a better version of the stronger disk - not likely to happen any time soon though

Flash, i did a good amount of damage to the oem flywheel & clutch disc.

Have you tried the flywheel i'm running currently? 12lbs billet steel unit from Powerhaus. The drawback is the price. I paid $2,500 for the flywheel alone.

not yet - material of the flywheel shouldn't make a difference - i have a steel surface too - the disk is the primary failure point - bad design - in some respects the DMF is better for the car - it absorbs the shock load of shifting much better, taking some of the stress off of the disk - i have just gotten used to the idea of having to change my clutch within 25k miles - that's the nature of the beast though when you start pumping things up - no free lunch

My mechanic showed me the old head gasket ( 102k mi on the car, always used non-phosphate coolant, etc.. ) which was about as thin as tracer paper and with tiny holes developing here and there ( can moths get into the engine ? [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif[/img] ) Needless to say errosion finally got the best of this one , but he still felt I might have had another 25k -35k miles on it.. So I asked him how much longer with a supercharger ( low boost one ) on it.. His response : maybe not the first, but probably the second time you step on the gas the gasket would have given up on you. Not that it would result in a catastrophy, but if you're not a DIY-er, it's a pricey fix..
So, just a consideration for those of you contemplating SC-in the car ( well, those of us 'cause I'm also thinking about it [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img] ) .. if you have high mileage, I'd follow the advice of those in a few posts earlier and replace that gasket first ...

The last mounting brackets have come in now from manufacturing and they have been test-fitted onto the 968.

All parts are in stock accept the supercharger itself (too expensive to carry in inventory). We get the Raptor superchargers about 2-3 weeks from the date we order, and we ship the kit 1 day after we receive the head unit.

Here is a pic of what the head unit looks like with the finished moutning brackets on it.
