968 Cabriolet Wanted
#1

I am looking for a 968, Cabriolet preferred. Open to most color options, and either manual or tip is OK. Car should be in what KBB would consider at least "Good" condition for its age and mileage, realizing that some age-appropriate mechanical, electrical or interior flaws are OK as I can work on those items but I cannot do major internal engine work or paint and body work without expensive professional involvement.

I'm flexible and can travel within reason to see the right car. I am in Upstate New York but I do get around the country from time to time.

I have reviewed all of the "For Sale" ads here and sent PMs as appropriate to those closest by, and I continually monitor CraigsList, eBay and Want Ad Digest, but I'm hoping that the forum members here may also become aware of cars for sale to a worthy new owner and want to "keep them in the family".

Thank you for any leads!

Respectfully,

TT

Thanks for your reply Flash - I don't know everyone well enough yet to know rustad by name, but I'll do a member search right now and look into it. I just came through LA twice in the last month, which would have been a good opportunity to detour and see some of the left coast cars, but as they say after the chain breaks - "timing is everything". Looks like I might be in Chicago in a month or so, and Austin in May.

Already conversing with Daryl, and I've come across at least two other candidates between 200-500 miles away.

Thanks again!

Did you see the Slate Gray car that just came up for sale on this board. If you don't mind Tiptronic, this is a beautiful, rare and sorted car...and it's right in CT...

Could be a match,

Jay

Thanks 94, yes I've seen that particular car come and go on CraigsList a few times already, and had already contacted the owner beforehand. It's 147 miles from me, not that I'm "all over it" or anything...

I have been considering putting the 968 up for sale this spring. If you haven't found one yet, I have a 94 Cab midnight blue, cashmere and black interior, 6 speed 85k miles. It has had all the known 968 issues already resolved including pinion bearing fix in the last couple of years, as well as new clutch. I've owned it 7 years and have records going back 15 years. Paint is all original and has the rocks chips in the front that show the mileage. Interior is a solid 9. The only things needing attention are the rockers need reaffixing, as they have a gap along the top. That's a DIY I haven't gotten around to and the top needs adjusting along the top. It's gotten hard to latch, also a DIY. The top is 10 years old but doesn't need replacing. The windshield does need to be replaced which I would do before selling it. It has a crack that has started growing. If interested email me at smshirk@bellsouth.net.

Thank you very much for thinking of me. I just purchased a '93 cab and drove it back from Virginia. I'll be absorbing this one, and my wife is probably already catching the bug from the ride back and having been surrounded by 968's while at Darryl's, so I might be back in the market in a little while. I'll take a breather for now though!

I wish you all the best of luck in selling your car.

First order of business, a cup holder!

Since nothing either edible or drinkable is allowed in my car (except water), I proably won't be needing that

Now the plaque on the other hand...

The "wedge" is still the best cup holder for a 968. Works great, it's removalble, and it costs around 10 bucks.

This one doesn't require any changes to the car and it provides a little extra safety... http://www.amazon.com/....

I have relatives in Hamilton, Syracuse, and the thousand islands. You should come down to Southbury CT for the PCA zone 1 concours in May. Not too far from you.

May is tight, right now there's trips to San Antonio and probably at least one overseas scheduled. Where do I find the dates for the event, Zone 1 website? We've got friends up in the Thousand Islands too, Alexandria Bay - that's where we were married, in Singer Castle because I proposed in the Tower of London, so just to keep the "theme" going.

I have a 1994 968 Cabriolet that I've been "saving" for a while now and would consider selling for the "right" price. It's a Polar Silver Cab with black top and medium grey interior with only 44,000 miles. I've driven it less then 500 miles for the past several years and it's always been garage kept and never even driven in the rain. It also has over $5000 in Gemballa wheels and tires and over $4000 in the sound system. All original except for K&N filter and BBB exhaust. No accidents, no body work, no issues whatsoever. This one is beyond "good" condition and probably only a few steps away from concours condition.

Email me if you're interested and
