968 Cab Red with black int wanted
#1

Sad story - I lost my 92 red 968 cab with black interior in Aug..75k on it... everything was mint!! not a scratch on the car and the leather was showroom..(I'll tell the story in another thread.. after the pain is gone <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

So I'm looking for a replacement... something under 100k (between 50-76k) would be ideal. I'll take a tip or manual.

I found a couple for sale that a dealer bought at auction - but I don't trust a car that came from auction.. why would a 968 owner trade in a car to a dealer? My gut tells me there is something that needs to be done $$$ and the owner traded the car in.. but just a hunch

so if any of you guys know of anything please let me know.

I'm in NY State

Sorry for the loss! Please tell us more...

As to your search, try a listing on Pelican website... normally lots of action on the 924/944/968 section, and then list on the Cars For Sale Section....

Worth a try! I have seen a few Guards Red Cabs with low miles, but most seem to have the champange leather interior.... Good luck...

Update! There is / was a 1992 Red Cab with Black and Champange combo interior with about 20K original miles, for sale on .net

It is absolutely gorgeous and was posted back in September...

I would grab it quick if I were looking!!!

There is one here in the Vancouver, BC area that has been for "sale" for the past year. The owner bought it from the original owner somewhere in the US. It is very low mileage (low 20K), but the current owner wants close to $30K for it. I think he paid a LOT for it a few years back and now wants to recoup his $$$. I wonder if that is the one on .net - I will check the site...

I will post a picture once I have re-sized it (I took a picture of it at the local Saturday Breakfast Run a while back).

Just checked .net and that's the "local" one I mentioned in the post above. The BC license plate was the give-away...

So no need for me to post a picture...

You should consider this car. Coral Red metallic cab which has been for sale for a while now. It is a special car. I see it is down to $24k on Craigslist but look at what you are getting:
  • 11K miles, that has to be one of the lowest mile 968s out there

  • 1 of 10 Coral Red cabs produced in this 1992 only color

  • 1 of 1 Coral Red cabs produced with a light gray/classic gray interior (the other 9, 5 had black interior, 4 had cashmere/black)

  • 1 of 1 cab with Full leather in light gray/classic gray. There were only 30 full leather cabs (out of 2,008, cost over $4K when new in 1992!) and this is one of them and the only 1 in that color. Notice the stiching around the console, glove box door, and door pulls. And look at those other interior options, piping on the seats and a deviated carpet.

Very nice.

+1 Jeff. If I was willing to drive a tip I would have bought that Coral Red job last year. Beautiful car. At $24K that's a steal. Could probably get it for $22 easy.

That red cab is also very, very nice. One of the lowest mileage manual cabs out there.

I found a coral red cab - have not had a chance to go down and see it. Ive seen pictures and everything looks nice -

The paint is bubbling a little bit around the black washer sprayers in the hood. I have no idea if that could mean rust - would I have to get the whole front of the car painted.. etc..

Again - I need to see it -- I could post a picture here.

I'm still away on business - so I don't have that much time to check in here, but will be focused once I get back home

WHY NOT JUST BUY ANY COLOR CHEAP. A CAR IN GREAT CONDITION AND HAVE IT COMPLETLY PAINTED WITH WHATEVER COLOR YOU WANT.

WHILE I AGREE RED IS THE BEST COLOR, I BOUGHT A ADVERTINE GREEN FROM PETE OF RS BARN AND LOVE THE CAR NOT THE COLOR.
