968 Wanted (Bay Area, Ca.)
#1

Hello,

I'd like to buy a 968 in fully maintained condition near the Bay Area, Ca.

I would prefer a manual coupe, but I'm open to anything.

Please reply or pm me if you know of or have a 968 for sale.

You will likely have more success if you broaden your search area. These cars are fairly rare, so you may have to travel to find the one you want.

Good Luck with your search,

Jay

When I bought my 1995 coupe I got it from BS Barn in PA. as I live in Oregon I had it shipped. For $1200 I had it shipped cross country. The car was specified to be in the lower rack in the middle so not to get blasted with dirt. The transport company I used is called Coast To Coast 800-794-9009 ask for Kenda. She is great

And remember if you find a great car you want in the wrong color you can always have it repainted.

A good paint job ( done the right way, that is .. ) will cost in excess of $ 10,000 .. so might want to think about that before you consider buying a 968 in great condition but not necessarily in a color you might like.. When I bought my aventurine green ( a couple of years later and the color still bugs me ..) I was considering having it replanted and got estimates form several of the top body shops locally - IRRC the cheapest quote was $ 9 K , and then on a climbing scale to about $ 13 K . At $ 13 K it would be more than I spent for the entire car so I decided to just live with it as it was. So if you find a great 968, I suppose you could live with most any color, I don't think Porsche made anything too offensive in this model, lol..

I just did an AdHunter search, and surprisingly, there are not many 968's on the market at the moment. Also interesting is that we are seeing more people wanting to buy on the forum than in years past.

BTW, if you don't find a 968 until late August or September timeframe , there may be a supercharged tiptronic coupe coming up for sale in the Bay Area, and in a stunning aventurine green color.. ahem, ahem..

Back to my initial question.... How much do you want to spend?

968's are hot with prices all over the board. The good ones seems up in price. You will find all of them from $8,000 to $55,000. A well maintained and in sharp original condition with all records and no issues, and around 50-70000 miles on it, should be in the $18,000-25,000 range....Just hard to find....Best of luck!!
