I’ve never seen anything quite like this :

 https://youtu.be/VMxjFTtTquc

The police helicopters chasing him gave up at 190 MPH, because he was pulling away from them !!

This moron could have killed half a dozen people the moment that car might have lost control ..

Ok, this is just remarkable !     A street / production car !     The Koenigsegg and Bugatti engineers are no doubt at their “ drawing boards “  , as we speak..

And glad that car , going at 330 mph +  didn’t hit an armadillo crossing the highway   :o

But to continue, any other electrical engineers here ...... this is about the power source, not the design/looks of the car. Electrical engines are typically over 75% efficient (can be 95%) and petrol motors around 30%, so electric whacks petrol any day ...... but not for very far. And as we all know, that's the problem. Apart from the more discerning of the human race (that's us) as soon as an electric source is created that mimics filling up at the pump, then there will be a mass migration to electric cars.

Indeed, the eventual mass migration to electric cars is inevitable .   The driving range is increasing by leaps and bounds and the time  required for charging is decreasing by leaps and bounds.   Still, I for one will never buy anything which sounds like a sewing machine mating with a golf cart, unless technology somehow also gets to a point where the manufacturers can mimic the inspiring sounds of a petrol engine‘s exhaust note ( and no, piped-in sound via the car’s speakers is a lame, pathetic alternative ..) , and preferably that of a V 8, 10 or 12 produced “ concerto “.   I don’t see that happening ( but technology is a foreign concept to me, so it may very well be plausible ) , nor do I think most people care all that much about how a car sounds, so I’m probably in the minority here, but they’ll have to pry that muffler out of my cold, dead hands .  Ok, maybe not “cold” hands holding a hot exhaust, but you get the point.. :whine:

I was wondering what kind of tires hold up at 330 mph,  it looks like the car’s OE tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, but I would imagine just like the Veyron, or other cars which are capable of 250 mph + , they are specially constructed so not something you can just buy off the rack .

I was having the same question about the tires. But, having driven the road where the testing occurred, I can attest that the faster you can get through that boring stretch of highway, the better.

That reminds of an answer NOT to give as to why you're speeding, if you're on a long trip and get pulled over by a patrol car in another state:  " - Officer, I was only speeding because I'm trying to get out of this s**t-hole state of yours, as fast as I possibly can.."   ^_^

Hmmmmm, but now that seed is planted in your brain!! I can imagine the conversation next time you're stopped for speeding (I know, not for 30 years, but) .... "Can I see your license please sir ......... WHAT ARE YOU SMILING AT??" ..... That"ll be Dan trying not to say

Haha, but sadly I no longer have the urge to speed so not sure there may be an opportunity for sarcastic responses ( that urge has not gone away ..it’s ingrained in me ) if I ever get stopped .   BTW,  33 years .  Wink

Crazy,  331 MPH in a street car, I remember the days ( and doesn’t seem like it was all that long ago ..) when land speed records of 300 mph, were attainable only in “cars” which were built like rockets and looked like one, propelled by jets and all that ..

Sad  damn, already sold , I missed my chance to buy it ..

Back to insane speeds, would anyone here drive a car at 330 mph ?    Given all the right conditions, allowed by law, etc...

It would be a concern that each time I blinked the car would be 50yds further ahead before my eyes opened again, and even further by the time I had focused and my brain had processed any changes ...... essentially at that speed there is no room at all for mistakes or changes of plan. I'd love to be a bullet-train driver ..... now that must be a blast!!
