I can't remember which comedian said ( I paraphrase ) if you are worried about the results of any study, simply wait a month until a new study comes out with the diametrically opposite conclusion .
So the latest one ( Duke University research, I believe ..) claims that even SECOND HAND smoke exposure will impact the mother to a degree where her baby's brain development and physical growth will be impaired not just if exposed to smoke during pregnancy but the damage is there and stays in the system BEFORE CONCEPTION causing subsequent problems !
This study's conclusion would be hilarious, if it wasn't so ridiculous.
Hell, if even DIRECT, and chain-smoking at that, would adversely affect babies' brains development, or cause birth defects we would have not just millions, but BILLIONS and generation after generation of morons with various physical ailments, running all around cigarette-friendly Europe, China, Japan, all of east and south east Asia for that matter, India, the Middle East, Africa, Central and South America, and much of the baby boomers segment in the U.S. and Canada to boot. Anyone who's been to Greece or Turkey would attest to the overwhelming majority of women there chain smoking like there's no tomorrow; how stupid of those folks relying on thousands of years of history proving otherwise, instead of listening to these clever studies . :glare:
Mind you not implying cigarettes do not impact a smokers' health,...but this ?! Come on...
