But he walked out unscathed. Reminiscent of Dario Franchitti 's flip .

The new Resvani ( sp ? ) American supercar which is already available has an engine equipped with both a supercharger and a turbocharger . So what is advantage to that set up, as opposed to simply a more powerful SC or a more powerful turbo ?

Also they limited the top speed to 165, which leads me to another question ; is there a reason some manufacturers pick 155 mph or 165 mph as the cap to cars which ostensibly are capable of 200 mph or more , while other manufacturers do not set any top speed limits for their cars ? If the limits are set due to safety concerns, then limit the car to 100 mph.. Heck, once you're at 165 I'm guessing you can kill yourself or others just as easily as you could at 200 mph.+ .

One would make up for the weakness of the other. The SC would provide torque at low rpm's and the turbo would have its say when the SC is done talking ;-)

An example would be VW's 1.4 TSI - up to 185 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

So would it be programmed to switch from the sc to the turbo at a certain point, or do both run simultaneously and constant but with programming which increases the boost of one vs the other at various stages ?

it's amazing at how addicting power can be, and how "normal" it can be.  the X5 we have already has almost 500 hp and lb/ft (bmw only rates it at 445/480, but tests show more), and already does 0-60 in 4.3.  i am now seriously contemplating the dinan upgrade, which adds a nice bump across the band, including some very welcome low end torque (never can get enough of that).  it's $2500 but why not?

Dan as far as I understand, yes, it involves some rather complex programming to make sure everything runs smooth and as efficient as possible. The cost would be one large disadvantage of this configuration.

That's it , I'm installing a Powerhaus turbo on top of the D1R  SC !  All I need is a giant hood scoop mod and we're all set .   Tongue  Tongue

If you make a good price for the combo, I'll consider it.

Oh, and maybe you could throw in a few head gaskets as well ;-)

And one more moron joins the LOMNB club ( lot of money, no brain ) - new owner leaves the Ferrari dealer lot in Budapest with his shiny $ 2 mil. La Ferrari and manages to crash it within less than 10 minutes , all caught on video .. ( can't attach the link at the moment, for some reason, but an article and video clip which can be easily " googled" )

2,200 HP street legal Lamborghini set for 2017 release .    So my question is this :  when and how do physics come into play and would that render approx. 1,000 of those HPs entirely useless ?

Flash could get his two sets of golf clubs to the course much faster? Oh, wait. Will they fit?

He would have to play at an Executive course because his driver doesn't fit.

That 2200 hp Lambo might accelerate faster than the golf ball off flash's club :-) .. So even if you have an airport strip or salt flats or a highway in the middle of nowhere in Dubai , can you imagine the G-forces their driver needs to endure at full WOT takeoff ? Not sure an untrained person ( without pre-conditioning on some physical stress simulator ) can deal with that . Lambo boasts a 6 sec. Q-mile with this car .. Not too long ago that was a top fuel qualifier time..
