Need to be at the doc's office at 1:15pm, a little time for the "relaxer" and eye numbing drops to kick in, surgery @ 2pm!

Thanks for the well wishes!

I sure as heck hope I can see afterwards!!!! If the doctor comes into the room looking like Dr. Evil and making quote signs while saying "laser", I'm in deep sh!t...!

If all goes well, I plan to watch The Wrestler tonight. Follow-up appt is tomorrow late morning.

WOW!

Hershey was great. No a drop of rain and the sun shone...It was perfect.

Melva and I were almost the very first to arrive. we ran into Paige (Tommy) and Emma (Jakerunner) and found our way to the special parking corral.

In a short time others began to arrive and the party got into swing when Jeff and greg rolled up in "Minty". Greg did a fantastic job on greg's car and kindly offered to wash mine down and save my sore shoulder. That allowed me to spend time on polishing the glass and making my 968 better than it otherwise would have been.

Melva and I had dinner with PorscheDude and his lady Lorri and caught up on all of life's news. I then joined the dinner in time for Jeff's Reigister information. I won't steal his thunder, but Jeff has gathered more information than anyone could have imagined only 1 year ago. It was great to see Jeff in full health.

Darryl and Christine were kind enough to host a party in their room and the wine (and scotch) and conversation flowed. The best part of any event is the people, and I was happy to catch up with Cosimo, Anchorman, Kathy and all of the great folks we have met at previous events.

The Saturday morning lineup went off without a hitch. OK, I'm not a fan of the 2nd gear parade (my issue), but it was cool to see 30 some 968 all in a line. We stopped for our group picture at the Antique Automobile MuseuM and I can't wait to see the pics.

Greg Coe, the ultimate swap meet shopper found a 1992 calendar with medallion (968 medallion) so I went on a search and found my own (thanks Greg!). Now I have more stuff to add to my growing collection.

My 968 now has nearly the full complement of RS Barn goodies, and yes, I am an enthusiastic fan of everything they produce. I took several opportunies to open the hood, point out the goodies and extol the virtuers of RS Barn and Design1Racing products. I am a shameless promoter of these good people. I also gave Darry the keys and let him try out the new short shift kit. I'll let him tell his impressions.

I also met a young man, who last year asked to hear my cat-back system and this year wanted to hear and know more about the header. I'm pleased to say that he has purchased both. Joel also drove my car..and I think he would really like a cab now. Joel and his father Rick are 2 really nice enthusiasts and I hope we will see them many more times.

We finally had a chance to meet Dino (and Nicole)...what can I say, Dino Rocks! He has tried, or is willing to try, any available possibility to squeeze the most power out of his car. I had the priviledge of taking the car for a short spin around the parking lot and all I can say is I want MORE! Dino, anything you ever need, feel free to call.

The weekend ended with a tech session at Don's house. Pete gave a "state of the nation" presentation of problems showing up and how RS Barn is working to preserve our cars. Max gave a presentation on tools and diagnostics and cleared codes using the Hammer as well as showing belt tighening, etc.

One of the absolute best pieces of news from the weekend was that not one, but 2, 968's were awarded prizes in the concourse. Jeff Coe's Minty took First Prize overall and Pete's Firehawk took 3rd place! Thanks to Pablo for dragging the Firehawk up to Hershey, glad it was worth the effort. (and Yes, Pablo, you can call at 1 AM...LOL)

If there is anyone I forgot to mention by name I apologize, I tried to meet and shake everyone's hand, you all make the experience of ownership so much better and I appreciate you all.

and now for some pictures..

I had a blast. I dont want to start naming people (as i will forget to mention a few people), but did want to thank everyone for everything. It was a huge pleasure to meet you all. The cars were all awesome. I finaly had the oportunity to see some rare colors in person. This was my first 968 Hershey Gathering & first time i have ever been to a country bar (lmao). After the tech session i went out to dinner with Steve, Ray, & Cosimo and then off to the Casino. I think i was the last one to leave this morning.

Here are a few more pictures. The stars of the show; Pete's Firehawk, Jeff's Mint Green Cab. Max doing a last minute adjustment on my shift linkage, the whole gang, and the last car to leave...

Sounds like a good time was had by all! Us poor losers who couldn't make it need more pics!

Wish I could have been there! Next year....

As it turns out, my neighbor ended up not going as he was in DC for business until Sat morning and he had taken his 944 in for some stuff so he didn't even have his Porsche.

I can't believe this stuff has been going on for years, and I didn't know about it.
In the last 3 months I have discovered the 968 Forums, RS Barn, the Hershey Gathering, and all of these great people!
Thanks to Flash for the hook.
What a great time. I can't wait until next year.
Thanks, everyone, for welcoming me to this event, but especially to Jay, Dino, and Steve for showing me around, to Jeff for pointing out a few rarities about my car, to Kathy for her hospitality that kept me from passing out from dehydration (barely), and of course to Don for hosting a great event!
My only regret is that I had to arrive late to the event on Saturday, and only got to meet about half of the people on the Bio sheet (without the benefit of name tags, as I heard were worn at the dinner).
Next year... 363 days and counting...

We had a great time & already look forward to next year. We drove all the way from St. Louis & the trip was worth it - Great people, great weather & all those cars! I was in such a Porsche mood, we decided to start for home on Saturday evening & do some work on the car Sunday. We got home around 2:30am & then started installing our RSBARN parts Sunday around noon. We bought the Stage 1 Chip, Cat-Back Exhaust & did the Airbox Mod. All installed & working great, very happy. Next year we will bring the 968 to the event & participate in all of the activities. Nice meeting evryone.

I want to thank everyone on this Forum for the rave reviews about my last hosted 2009 968 Gathering and all the participants for presenting me with a Gift Certificate, by Kathy D during the dinner, in thanks for hosting the 2001-2004 and 2007-2009 events. My wife has indicated she will take care of disbursing these funds.

Recap of the event:
- 37 968 Coupes & Cabriolets participated in the event (27 in the group photo and 10 joined us at the 968 Concours parking area). We had 4 owners who were unable to bring their cars and 4 owners who were unable to make it due to car problems, etc)
- Participants were from; California, Canada, Connecticut, Hungary, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
- 42 participated in the 968 Friday night dinner. Highlight of the evening was Jeff's presentation on the build statistics for the 968 Cabriolet. Jeff promised to prepare a similar presentation on the Coupe for next year's 968 Gathering in Hershey (Graham Rippels' work on the 968 Coupe Registry should help Jeff).
- As mentioned in a previous post, Jeff's Minty Cab and Pete's Firehawk won awards in the 924-944-968-928 Class.
- Kathy Downs hosted a fantastic 968 Tailgate party with lunch for all attendees
- The Tech Session at my house had 30 participants. Presentations were held by Tom Charlesworth (via DVD), Pete live and Max live.
- Session ended at 3:45 pm - I really hated to see all those 968s leave my street

Thanks to all who participated for making this one of my best 968 Gatherings that I have hosted. Yeah, we did not reach the 74 968s that we had at my 2003 event but the event had all the right cars and people participating to be successful.

Jeff Coe, the PCA 968 Register Advocate, has committed to hosting the April 2010 968 Gathering in Hershey so you will have another chance to join the group next year. I look forward to participating as an attendee - look forward to seeing you all in April 2010.

Now for the photos!

For the museum shots Don arranged a cherry picker to lift him up...

For the concourse, there was a building close-by. I assume he got up to the roof.

Don really goes out of his way to get the best shot
