over the years i have passed up on a couple of chances to pick up the tech art rear spoiler for the cab. i have never been able to decide if i wanted it or not. but, i promised myself that if one came up for sale again that i would snag it, even if i didn't install it. as it turns out, the one i passed on last time never got installed, and came up for sale for the same price it sold for back then. i grabbed it (thanks gene). so, it sits now in the original box, awaiting a decision from me.



i like the idea of the rear air diffusion

i like the idea of having something to grab onto to open and close the trunk



i don't like the 80's look of any of those things, though it does sort of work with the front spoiler i have.



what do you guys think? this is not my car (it was eric's) but this is what it looks like in my color:

I have an original still in the original box. Waffle back and forth all the time and just never installed it. I am holding on to it for now, it still isn't painted.



I think, in general, that it looks good on darker cars versus lighter cars. Overall I like it.

Much of the joy I get out of my car is when people can't figure out what the @%$ it is. In the past week, I've sat in a restaurant and watched people pull slowly past the rear of my car as the wife clearly called out "Porsh" to the husband who was driving and craning his neck to see for himself. Then a friend was called on his cell phone during lunch and asked if he had just gotten out of a "weird little red car". Yet again, somebody in the office was asked "Who's Ferrari is that in the parking lot?"



And I just chuckle to myself. Being unrecognizable means I have a much lower "Db" factor. At least because of my car,...

Bob I think it looks good. I agree with Tama in that it's different. My coupe has one and at first I wasn't sure I liked it but it quickly made the rear end neater looking. We are talking about a cab I know so a coupe is not apples to apples but it takes the dull off the rear. Just an opinion of course!

i tend to like smooth uninterrupted curves. i removed the 3rd brake light and rear emblems because they broke those up. i'm not sure a wing would work for me. from the side, it looks decent. from 3/4 not so much. from the rear, it makes the already too high rear deck even higher.



i think i'm going to stick it on there with some 3M and let it sit there for a while and see what it looks like and if it grows on me or not

Not crazy about it..the smooth lines of the cab rear are timeless IMO, more so than the coupe , and whilst this adds an iteresting accent I do think that it dates the car and sets it back to another era. But that's just looking at that photo, and from the angle it's taken..maybe in person it gives less of an add-on appearance .

I have to admit - it looks a little over the top, for what is a classic shape. Wasn't there a smaller lip spoiler for the boot/trunk that was available for a 944 - would this fot and keep the profile lower and be less living large?

I don't really care for it. I like the cab due to the smooth, classic lines with the top down. The fingernail on the back looks tacked on IMHO.

I guess the question I would ask is whether there is a performance benefit to be gained with the installation. If there is, then the installation makes sense to me. If there is little or no performance benefit, then the installation is purely for cosmetic reasons and whether it works or not is a matter of personal preference. From my personal perspective, it looks pretty good from the angle in your photo. I wouldn't install anything on these cars that made them look "rice rocket" like. I see too many Honda Civics with the big 4 inch diameter exhaust pipes, cheap fiberglass trunk spoilers and fender flares and the like. Never a good look.

there is, though i doubt i'll use it more than once. it breaks up the wind at the rear and provides less of a rear lift. that would equate to a higher top end. i would likely only se that once though, just to see what it did. after that, the benefits would probably not be used much, as i rarely drive over 100 anymore.



there would be an improvement in fuel economy though, as the effective "length" of the car would increase, thereby lowering drag.



it would also give me something to grab to lift and lower the boot lid.



i'll play with it and see, but amazingly those here who have commented are about as equally divided as i am myself.

I have it on my car and it sat in it's box for many years. I'm ok with it now, I like it. The spoiler is nice for having something to grab onto when opening and closing. I still have the third brake light, so that really needs to go. I thought about adding in a led third brake light into the spoiler to give it a little more modern look, but I don't think it's necessary anymore.



Just paint it and stick it on there, if you don't like it, take it off.
