Windscreen windshield rubber fix
#1

As with many cabrios the rubber/plastic on the sides of my windscreen had warped over the years and I speculated how I might reverse the sands of time (my 968 was in the Middle East for 22 years  ) ... I speculated that hot water should soften the rubber sufficiently to bend it and here is the result .....

Top left top right is before and after.

Bottom left shows my side rubbers .... the red line shows how the rubber had warped and the blue arrow points to the other side that I had already straightened.

Bottom right is the fix in process ....

1. Protect the patterned side of the mould with smooth, soft material, else you will imprint a different pattern onto the rubber; I used a dish towel.

2. Clamp a straight, flat object onto the section to be reformed; I used a random piece of wood.

3. Clamp as shown

4. Pour boiling water (I emptied the whole kettle) into the channel by the clamped wood and with your hand bend the rubber back into position.  Hold in position until cool or pour cold water on to accelerate the process.

et voila!!
