I have used 8 and 1/2 inch x 18 in front and 10 x 18 in the rear with zero problem. No spacer or anything required and no rubbing anywhere. I have heard of 11 x 18 being used in the rear with no problems too. My 18 inch OZ Racing wheels are for sale, by the way, $600 plus shipping including center caps. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

It depends on wheel offset.

you might have some clerance issues with a rear 285, i'm running 18 carrera lightweights off the 996 which are 8x18 front and10x18 rear shod with 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 and they fit a treat. regards chris.

Speaking of wheels, a friend of mine has a set of SSR Competitions. 18 x 8.5 13mm offset front, 18 x 9.5 20mm offset. These came off of a 95 BMW 540 I. Will they fit? I thought some BMW's had the same lug pattern as Porsche.

Run a search on Wheel Offset. There should be a lot of info in various threads.

The short answer is the offset of a wheel determines far it sticks out from the center of the car. A lower offset number will stick out farther. A higher offset number will have the outside, and therefore the inside, of the wheel moved more inboard.

My wheels are 18 inchers that are 8.5" and 10.0" respectively. I have 275s on the 10" rears and get a little tire rubbing under compression because the offset places the wheel and tire almost outside of the fender well.

I've read about some 968s and 944s with 11" wide rear wheels shod with 285 mm tires. They worked because they were positioned in the correct location within the fender well.

I guess I might have the widest wheels...

9 X 18 up front with 275/35/18 Hoosier R6's

11 X 18 in the rear with 315/30/18 Hoosier R6's

I'm running about 3.5 neg camber up front and 2.5 neg camber out back.

Jason, how much lower than stock is your car? Spring rates? Do you know what your offsets are? Thanks.

Russtech,

My car isn't that much lower...couldn't say exactly though.

My spring rates are 650# up front and 750# out back...remember that I removed the torsion bars and went with Bilstein coil-overs all around.

Don't know my offsets, but the wheels came from a cup car, we needed to get longer wheel stud bolts.

A few more things to consider apart from the width of the wheel itself. Firstly offset is crucial. 2nd is profile. 3rd is Outside Diameter. 4th is brand. 5th is street or race tyre. Race or R-spec are often wider than they say on the tyre itself. 6th is suspension setup.

Jason can run those sizes mainly due to his suspension rates and neg camber. Obviously he's not going to be getting as much compression as a street car. Lots to consider apart from can I bolt this wheel onto my car.

Hi Jason,

I run 10x18 up front with 265/35/18 RE 55 and 12x18 in the rear with 295/30/18 PZeros. How are Hoosiers holding up? I run same spec. neg. on my car. How much work did you put in to install 315 at rear. I can not put anything bigger then 305 I think.

Zoran

PS 513HP at rear treads now.

Do you know the offset of those wheels?I know the tyres will fit, but not sure how to spec the wheels.

Nice number, what boost that at?
