What should be lubed when reassembling the clutch
#1

I am busy reassembling my clutch, pressure plate etc and I was wondering where I should be putting grease. I have greased the splines on the driveshaft but looking at the whole assembly I can't help but wonder if I should not be putting grease in the following places as well:

1) on the inside and outside of the guide sleeve. Since the release bearing will be sliding over this every time you press the clutch it might need lube?
2) Where the clutch fork meets the thrust bearing?

Any advice is appreciated.

i would be very careful about what you lube - lube that melts can get on the disk - that is bad

i would only lube the fork bearing, and use a heavy moly grease

If you have not so, you should replace the bearings on the fork shaft.
They are only $20 or so.

I lube the fork bearings and the fork cup..and maybe a real light coat on the bearing where it touches the fork prongs (but its not really necessary)

check your cup and prongs for wear. If worn excessivly, replace with a good used one...new forks are crazy expensive. DCautomotive probably has them if needed.

Also, you throwout bearing should turn smoothly with no grinding and its parts should not be loose

you might also want to replace the dust cap/caps if needed

Good time to look at the ring gear and starter gear for bad teeth

Thanks for the advice guys.

I have already replaced the fork bearings and the fork itself looks good. The factory manual says that the splines should be greased so I will leave it at that.

If all goes well,my car will be on the road again in a day or so!
