Torsion Bar Issues
#1

I've had a recurring problem with the left rear sagging about 1-1.5" low. Each time I have it raised back, it sags within days. After bringing the car in, my mechanic finds that it has TWO right torsion bars installed. Does anyone have any advice on where to find a left torsion bar? Anyone have one lying around?

I've never heard of a left or right torsion bar. They are the same - there is only an inside and outside end.

no - there is a left and right

left is 951.333.103.30

right is 951.333.104.30

i have no idea what the difference is, as i sold mine - they are both 25.5mm, so the spring rate would be the same, but the clocking on the splines could be different, which would set a different starting point in ride height

I am with Eric on this one. I know there is a different number of splines inside to out, but I did not think there was a length difference that would be the only possible cause of a L and R part number. It is just a spring in rod form and should have nor directional attitude.[Image: blink.gif] This has me puzzled.

Hey, I have been wrong before though.

I guess I should ask...How were they changing the height? Re-indexing the bar or just adjusting the side plates?

the clocking of the splines from one end to the other could be different left to right - this would give a different effective resting point

but yes, i would ask them that, because if they did it at the splines, it would be a mess
