strut brace and handling
#1

Put in a strut brace, the one from RS Barn, now it seems the car understeers more, does this seem logical?

Everything else is the same, tires, dampers, driver etc...

I know if you tighten up the front end with biggers springs or swaybar and leave the rear alone, you will get more understeer. It does not seem a brace would make that much difference, but maybe your car was loose up front and the brace is really keeping your alignment in control now, causing the understeer. Maybe an alignment check is in order. Try lowering front tire pressure for now.

I agree with Ryan on all counts, I also experienced understeer with the strut brace/under brace. New tires helped the feel A LOT!

lol - you should see what happens when you really start to stiffen things up - i'm having to change alignment geometry now - i don't need nearly as much negative camber

That's what I figured. Had a 4-wheel alignment this spring and the car is set up pretty much standard.

Will have to adjust the arms on the rear ARB's. Glad I put on M030's. The car behaved OK before this, now it's just try and see I suppose. What fun!

Have to confess, it's a bit of a pain, this car, there aren't that many ready made solutions for the suspension. The other problem is Norway and it's extremely bad roads. I would like to get rid of the body roll without making the car undriveable on normal days. Is there any useful info?

Yeah, if you have the M030 bar on the back you should set it to the stiff setting and see if that helps.

If your car was flexing while in a corner it "effectivly" lowers the spring rate & would allow the front to be softer, there for less understeer. I used to race a Datsun 510. We kept adding front spring rate & the car kept improving. After we went past the sweet spot we found the car chassis was flexing. We welded in more bracing & went back down in spring rate.
If your front strut brace "stiffend the chassis" it would increase understeer.
