#41

there is no part number on the part, but it looks just like the picture in the PET, so i think the part number i gave is right. it's part 32 in the pic below

I sold my modded airbox to someone on here - for the life of me I can't remember who - but if they speak up, you could ask them about the difference. I remember a deeper voice, but still in a Porsche dialect.... not so much a difference in power. A little, though. I much prefer my D1R air box mod that replaces the box with a cone filter. And a couple other components. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

no worries. i'm not sure what i am doing with all my stock parts yet, so i'm no help on the search. no idea why i am keeping much of anything, but for some reason i just can't seem to let go of some stuff.

there are about 25 of them that i know of out there not being used though, and a bunch more about to become available.
it is right in front of the 200 degree oil cooler. the airbox mod deletes the snorkel and allows the new air to be from the upper grill of the car, which is MUCH cooler
I'm confused, I looked inside the bumper area and the snorkel is in a separate compartment from where the oil cooler is situated. There is a plastic shield sealing off the fresh air snorkel and also acts as an air divertor for the radiators. Are you saying the plastic shield is radiating heat into the snorkel area enough to heat incoming air affecting performance?

Imagine what it'd be like if you were driving in reverse!

i'll have to look at a stock car again, but as i remember it, it runs over to outside that radiator inlet shroud and into the oil cooler area. i know that we ran temp probes both at the inlet of the snorkel and at the front of the airbox, and we got a nearly 30 degree difference.

Would replacing the airbox with a K&N on a stock car be an improvement over the airbox mod?

not unless you either enclose it so that it doesn't pick up engine bay heat, or move it so that it is removed from that heat.

p.s. - we did try that. evosport used to make such a thing. worked "ok" but was a pain to service, as the air cleaner was under the bumper cover.
