I,m ordering koni inserts and am trying to decide wether to do the coil over kit

or just go with the lowering springs theres not much difference in price, but if i go

coil over what # spring should i go with ? The mo30 sways are going in also but

i don,t have coil overs in the rear. Or should i just bite the bullet and go with leda

or bilstein full kit. I,ve been doing a little auto x and definetely need to do something,

my lowered 66 vw squareback almost handels better <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Welcome to "the slippery slope" Doug! It always boils down to how much money you want to spend to determine how fast you can go.........



I bought the H&R Progressive Rate lowering springs for the front and the Koni inserts for the struts as well as the Koni rear shocks. I had installed 28mm torsion bars already in the rear so I didn't go for the rear coilover kit. The Konis are yellow, sport, adjustable and are quite good for street and track. I have had Bilstein on a 911S I used to own and they were also very good for street and track use and you never had to adjust them. I bought my suspension upgrade (including the M030 anti-sway bars) from Paragon Products. Jason burkett knows his business and the service was always great. 28mm rear sways! where did you get those i thaught mo30 were 19mm rear.

and have the H&Rs been working well for you?

If I use the H&Rs do i have to re index the bars or is there enough adjustment on the arms?

I just adjusted the eccentric bolt on the spring plate in the rear. The front springs lowered it about one inch and the rear adjustment lowered it about 3/4 of an inch. It seems about right to me. Used as a daily driver, I have to watch steep driveway entrances and the drive-on lift at the Base Hobby shop drags a little on the underbody every time I use it. Worth the trouble for the better cornering I think. Good luck, Bob blackwell.

After talking to Jason I decided to do the conversion with the adjustable coil kit

instead of the lowering spring it seemed like a pretty good bang for the buck,

so between the struts, sways and brakes I should have my work cut out for me.

My pleasure Doug. Yes, the H&R springs are working well for me. If I was using the car just on the track I would want much stronger springs front and rear, but for a daily driver and frequent long-haul cruiser, this setup works very well. Good luck, Bob.
