Spark Plug Heat Range
#1

I've always wondered why the 944S2 uses a Bosch WR5DC, while the 968 uses a hotter WR7DC (as does the 944 turbo).

I would think that the S2 and 968 engines are very similar in all but slightly higher compression and Variocam.

Any clues as to why the S2 would run a cooler spark plug?

that is odd - i had to check to make sure the numbers didn't run backwards (like denso and ngk) - nope - the S2 is indeed hotter - the only explanation i have is that the fuel flow must be increased and they were worrying about emissions
