SoCal Fun Run
#41

Thanks Jay - a dose of reality.

As for the pics, what I need to do is figure out how to mount an iPhone and take real time video as we blast through the S's and put it on that webcam site. We must be close to that by now - although I don't have an iphone so that could be a problem

I am working on some interesting technology for the driver's meeting, and hope to have some good vids shot by our support vehicle - we'll see.

Will also be heading to the local bbq place today to make sure I have plenty of cooking stuff for lunch tomorrow.

my car will NOT be making this run - there are just too many things still to sort out, all of which could spell expensive correction if i make the run as is - very bummed

Sorry to hear that bob. There is one section of the run with your name on it. Alas we will carry on.

Bring the benz

Everything is ready to roll.

Air in tires - check
Oil - check
Coolant - check
AC works - yep

Alignment completed today (the guy put 38 lbs in cold - the tires are like basket balls so I need to take a couple of pounds out)

Maps are printed
Beer is cold !

See you all tomorrow AM.

ugh, It's 4am and just getting home from a night out - I am not going to make it to the fun run.

one of my close friends got to the point that he and his wife separated a couple of weeks ago. Beginning last Friday night he's been making up for "lost time" and our behavior since reminds me of our college days.

Anywho, it's 4am; and I'm heading to bed.

don't hate, I'm not a "morning" person.

Thanks to all for coming. This run was about the drive and a good drive we did have. One quick video.

Thanks for putting that together Joe, it was a blast! My 968 was very tired of I-5

Hey Joe, thanks a lot for putting the fun run together. It was a great course, and I really enjoyed spending the time with everyone. As you saw, my son did 1/2 the driving, I probably lost a few lbs and years in the process of being his copilot.

Yes, Joe. Thank you and your wife very much for putting up such a fun event! The food was great, the driving better, and hanging with the other 968's was epic! And, being the yellow shirt winner...

A few pictures...

Out front getting ready to go.

Phil parking in the shade, where's the team spirit in that (I don't blame him, it was 92...)

Three of us that parked bravely in the sun...

There's nothing like driving with a 968 in front of you and another in your rear view mirror! (and of course, being in one yourself!!!)

i was SO bummed to not make this run - i had been looking forward to it for weeks - friday was not a good day for me - i won't be letting that happen again

lol - but i knew rader would bail - if i didn't know somebody who has met him, i'd think he was a mythical creature and more like one of those really large phone sex operators - maybe someday he will actually get his butt out of the bed and out to an event

Too funny. I've described Rader as an enigma - prove me wrong dude! Perhaps a fun run that starts in LJ at 9ish (PM), moves slowly South to the East Village and includes multiple coolant check/refill stops at some of San Diego's finest establishments might work

Some additional pictures here.

Story behind the shirts for those of you who do not follow Le Tour de France.

The White Jersey is awarded to the Best Young Driver - that was simple as Roland's son was ehem, significantly younger than the rest of us old farts.
The Green Jersey is awarded to the leader of the Sprint Competition.
The Maillot Jaune is awarded to the overall leader on time - we gave this one to Rick for trekking up from East County and for generally waking up - great to see him again.
The Polka Dot Jersey (in our case red cause there are no Polka Dot tee shirts, thankfully) is awarded to the King of the Mountains. In our case we changed this to the King of the Twisties, which we awarded to Kevin, mainly because he was scaring the s*#t out of me 12 feet from my rear bumper as we blasted through the bends

And my favorite Video here (thanks Mike - kid has an eye):
