Socal Fun Run and BBQ
#1

ok - it's summer - time to dust off the car and take it out for a great drive

we haven't had a driving event in a while - some of you have recently expressed interest and so i thought i'd get the ball rolling

i'm still at least a week away from being ready, and i know a few other people are putting on some finishing touches too - we also need to get past the 4th, which is right around the corner

i'm thinking that july 8 or 15 sounds really good

here's the plan:

we would rendezvous about 8am for coffee at starbuck's in malibu and blast from there up over a really nice course out through the canyons, then head down to my place for a bbq around lunch time

let me know what you think

ok - it's going to be the 8th - turns out i have a wine tasting on the 14th, after which i will likely have a doozy of a headache, and ayn has a commitment on the 15th which would take here away

so, the 8th it is

Sign me up Bob. It looks like 7/08 is a better date for me too. Recently a friend who had lived at Malibu for many yrs took me up through some of the canyon roads in that area in my 968, had a blast! Let me know what to bring for the BBQ as we get closer to that date.

Darn it, Flash. I'll be in Atlanta that weekend. Someday you'll have one of these and I'll be in town. Have fun.

just ran the course in the denali - wow is that a different ride - roads look good - no issues - lots of very beautiful countryside, with a lot of varying terrain and some truly spectacular views

i'll run it again for time in a couple of days in the porsche (and because i really want to treat myself to those roads again)

very much looking forward to this

info update:

8:00 am rendezvous at Starbucks in Malibu

3900 Cross Creek Rd

Malibu CA 90265

310-317-4515

Cross Creek Rd is approximately 1 mi south of malibu canyon rd (las virgenes)

there you will be given instructions, course maps, cell numbers, final rendezvous point, etc

after a very important driver's meeting, and basic safety inspection, we will sort into groups and be off and running into the hills

if you have any questions, please email me at flash@design1racing.com

if you are bringing anyone other than yourself, or if someone is joining you at the bbq, that is perfectly fine, but please let me know, just for the purpose of head count and shopping

see you there
