RS BARNS CAT BACK GROUP BUY
#1

Some of you may have been following the thread that I started on the status of Flash's exhaust system development several days ago.

Out of that thread came a discussion on the RS Barn's cat back system along with a suggestion to put together a group buy on that system. I was reluctant, since there was also someone posting to put together a group buy on the B&B system, but pricing still seems high on that system, and some of the comments made in the discussion indicated that there may be some issues with the B&B. Conversely, there were positive comments about the performance and quality of the Barn's system.

Standard pricing on the RS Barn's system is $70 to $100 less than the B&B. I contacted Pete at RS Barns and he is willing to offer a quantity discount on his cat back in the form of a group buy.

Group buy pricing would be as follows:

1 to 3 systems - $699 (regular price - no discount)

4 to 5 systems - $649 ($50 discount)

6 to 8 systems - $629 ($70 discount)

9+ systems - $599 ($100 discount)

I would be a buyer if we can get a group buy for 9 or more systems. Please post a reply if you would like to participate.

Thanks.

[quote name='Mark' date='Jan 17 2006, 05:27 PM']Ernie I'm probably in depending on the rest of bill from Pete. So with flash and silvy968 needing two each for the dual look. that makes six.

Seriously though, you should probably start another thread for the RSBarn group buy.

I will take one.

Pete, what about a deal on the header as well?

Well, two hours into this thread and we now have three potential buyers for a group buy:

1. Ernie Rossi

2. Mark

3. Bruce Ward

4. bibbetson

The next addition to the list will drop the price by $50 to $649!

Pete, if you are monitoring this, can you comment on group pricing for the header?

Thanks.

You guys would try this group buy right now. I'd be in if this didn't go down for a few months, but I don't have the time/money right now(and I already have a garage full of parts that still need to go on the car). If this gets held up a few months you can count on me to join in.

Hello,

I am potentially interested, but need a quotation of the shipping cost to ITALY. I have already mailed RS Barn to get this info. If some of you knows how to keep costs reasonably low, let me know.

The other cat-back system I am currently considering, is the one made by ESS in UK, on which I read good comments on the 968 UK site.

Bye

Ooops,

I just noticed this is my first post here... so some word is due.

My best greeting to Eric Sandoval for the site realization. And the best regards to Dave, Flash and the many other 968 fellows known on 968.net threads.

Ciao

Add me to the list. I have been on the fence if I was going to wait for the work that FLASH was working on. Since this exhaust will be for track use, I feel that the RS Barn solution gives me more options. Regardless, the weight savings is my biggest reason for a CAT back.

Aluminum would be good weight savings.

Well, with the addition of bibbetson to the group buy list, we now have (4) buyers, which is enough to get the $50 discount on the system, bringing the price down to $649. If we can pick up two more buyers, we'll qualify for a discount of $70 resulting in a system price of $629.

We have two people interested but timing isn't right for them. Please let us know if you would like to add you to the list. Hopefully, we can put this group buy together in about a week or so.

Current posters who are willing to commit:

1. Ernie Rossi

2. Mark

3. Bruce Ward

4. Bibbetson

Pete,

If you are monitoring this thread, can you provide some guesstimates on shipping for your system. Say costs to Chicago and Los Angeles. That would give each of us some idea of our total potential cost. There was also one interested poster in Italy who would need to know shipping costs to his country before he commits.

Bruce Ward also has asked if you would provide special pricing for the header, as an option in the group buy.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Ha, I was trying to call Bob with that same question.. BUT the concern is, given the pulse/timing effect on which everyone focuses relative to the exhaust system's engineering, and the effect on performance, would it make any sense that a RS Barn header, a Porsche oem mid-section, and a BB catback, might work in sync, just as well as, or better than only two components do ( oem + bb catback ? )

You wouldn't be using a OEM center section with the RSBarn header. You would need to get his test pipe or his high flow cat to replace the OEM section that has the cat. The RSBarn website has pictures of all the components in his exhaust system. I have his header and test pipe hooked to a B&B cat back.

Sorry guys I have been a little tied up this week and haven't been able to monitor the site as usual.

Bruce and all. I would be willing to put a group buy together for the Header. As with the exhaust I tried to make my initial pricing very good relative to my costs barely taking into account development costs. I'll try to get some pricing together early next week.

The Header works well with all the pulse timing and variocam issues. More hp and torque everywhere. I just provided Flash with some info that shows this.

The Header works best with my test pipe/high flow converter and cat back system. But it will also work very well with stock cat back or B&B cat back. I haven't done testing this way but I am quite sure we are talking very little difference from my complete system. I'm guessing less than 2 hp variance.

Count me in towards any group buy that develops for the RS Barn header. Thanks.

Pete,

Can you make that a header back group buy price?

Also I would like to see the new info!

I checked out this thread and the B&B thread last night.

As I'm not interested in DEs or tracking my car (e.g., street use only), I'm looking for a "quiet" exhaust that's lightweight.

After talking with Pete at RS Barn today, I want to try the RS Barn Cat-Back exhaust.

Soooo, put me down for one!!!

By the way, as soon as I have my RS Barn unit, I will be selling my present B&B.

Send me a PM if any of you are interested.

I'll attach some pictures.

Folks, we now have a group buy of (6) owners, which lowers the per system cost to $629. I would like to keep this thread open until next Sunday, and we'll then ask folks to contact Pete at RS Barn to get the group buy pricing.

Currreent commitments for the cat back system are:

1. Ernie Rossi

2. Mark

3. Bruce Ward

4. Bibbetson

5. Reder

6. Porsche

This group of (6) will lower the cost to $629. If we can get (3) more owners to sign up by this Sunday, January 29, the system pricing will come in at $599 per system. Man the phones!!

Comments please?

I was just informed that I have a little bit of duplication on the attached list since Reder and Porsche are apparently one and the same. Catching that error brings us back down to (5), which moves the group buy price up to $649. One more commitment will bring us back down to $629. Sorry about the confusion.
