RS barn's Cat Back!!!
#1

ordered the cat back system yesterday, got it today. and just got back from my first ride! i just wanna say awesome!! sounds really good. i talked to pete he said the hardest part is getting the 4 bolts off from where the cat attaches to the rest of the exhaust, and it was. besides that not too bad. aligning everything wasnt too hard. the exhaust tip is a littttle crooked, just enough so that i notice it once everything was tightened. :/ fix that once the tip cools down. it smoked a little bit at first, i guess just from the chemicals. guess ill be back under the car in a couple days checking on all the bolts and such. just wanted to to tell you all the awesome news! just cant wait to get the headers now <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Everyone that strips off the old cat is happy w/ the results. I'm holding off as I'm selling my coupe for a cab.

Q- You did the install yourself right? So on a scale of 1 - 10 how would you rate the project for a novice mechanic?

on a 1 - 10... id say its like a 3, 4ish. the only hard parts are getting the two top bolts that connect the cat to the rest of the exhaust off. and if you do it by yourself :/ with the car on jack stands laying on your back on cold concrete, lifing the muffler and sliding it onto the exhaust can be kinda hard. squaring everything off isnt too bad you just have to look at it and figure out where you should twist things and such. overall not too bad. it took me maybe 4 hrs. but thats with letting the old bolts soak in PB Buster for half and hour (make sure you do that it helps ALOT).

Joel,

You are being too kind.

I warn everyone in installation instructions about smoking/smell after first drive. It is the chemicals from manufacturing and the muffler insulation getting hot. It is pretty much gone after first 10 mile drive .

Car sounds really awesome compared to stock!!!!!!

Pete

I must've used too much sealant - my exhaust smoked the first 2 days and the smell continued for almost a week. I have 2 DynoMax mufflers on my muscle-car and it didn't smoke at all[?].

I like the kit too. I just wish there was more choices on the tip. I'm not a big fan of chrome on a Euro-sportscar...
