I just finished installing a RS Barn flywheel with a stock Sachs clutch/pressure plate kit today. I took the car out for a test-drive, and I didn't go back home for an hour! I love the new feel, and the difference between stock is night and day. The only downside I see to it is that I have to relearn my heel-toe pressures, as the revs drop a lot quicker when the clutch gets pushed in. I don't mind the noise/vibration between 1800-2400 rpm, especially since the car will only be used as a track car starting in about a month.
I'm really looking forward to how the flywheel performs once i put a few more break-in miles on it.
Thanks Pete and RS Barn for continuing to support these amazing cars, and taking on the development of such great parts such as your flywheel!

I notice very little noise or vibration from my RSBarn flywheel and I'm not particularly concerned.
even the stock disk doesn't rattle on the way up, and really only on the way down
as for smooth take off, you need to take the rpms up a touch higher than you normally would before letting go of the pedal, but should only be 200 or so
+1
When I switched to the RSBarn flywheel I also switched to a softer pressure plate. My clutch went from a hard feel with engagement 1" from the floor to a soft feel with engagement a couple of inches form the top. I told Pete I would stall at the first stop light, I was wrong it was the second. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I don't even notice it now and I definitely do not have a rattle or buzz on the way up the revs and rarely on the way down.
My rear shocks are totally shot and that doesn't help starting when the rear end is bouncing around. I also think it might help if I get the RSBarn chip and do the airbox mod. Maybe get the exaust system too. That would hopefully help get rid of that dead spot in the low RPMS while starting out. See that, I just turned shocks, struts, springs, M030 bars, exaust, chip, and airbox mod in to a 'repair' instead of an upgrade. Well, the shocks are a repair either way I suppose.
The only time I get a rattle is on hard decel around 2300-2100 RPMs. I rarely am in a hard decel with the clutch engaged at that RPM
Odd can't edit my post, but I will add I have a pretty loud exhaust and tires that are noisy but I would still think I would hear the rattle/buzz if it was occurring any other time.

Matti.
"- if I get cold start, there's hardly any rattle (this is normal)
- when tranny warms up, the rattle gets worse. It's biggest when decelerating from 2500rpm to 2000rpm.
- my rattle does not come from clutch or flywheel, but from tranny. "
Thats exactly what happens when you fit a lightweight flywheel and a standard clutch disc..
Ive just done the same + get exactly the same result / noise...
It can be a bit unnerving at first, but youve just got to live with it...
