Single Mass Flywheel Vibrations
#1

So I drove a 968 today with a lightened flywheel. I don't know exactly what kind, but it had the famous symptom of vibrations while slowing down in gear.

If I run a 944 S2 flywheel balanced with the clutch, will I still experience this? I have read about people using the 944 S2 harmonic dampener to help fight issue. I also read something about the S2 torque tube having slots in it to help as well.

When I put my 968 motor into my 944, I will be forced to use a single mass flywheel with the set up I want to run, but I really don't want to deal what I experienced with that 968 today in a daily driver. Is there any way around it?

there really shouldn't be a "vibration" per se, but more of a rattle noise at about 2300, mostly on decel - if you have a vibration, likely the flywheel was not balanced - i know that some people feel it is not necessary, but it really is

as for whether or not you will experience the problem with a 944 flywheel or tube, i'm not sure

the S2 dampener did help on my car with the 18lb flywheel, but did nothing for the 12lb
