Remote locking not functioning
#1

MY 968 was at a body shop for a long while during which time the battery died and could not be re-charged. A new battery was installed. I had them install new plastics links in the doors. Only the passenger door was faulty but I thought both should be changed. When the car was handed back to me both doors locked/unlocked properly with the key but the remote locking was dead. I have tried to get them to rectify the issue but its not happening. Is there a connection in the doors that a remote locking system needs to function correctly ie lock the doors and wind up the windows if open. It worked great before the passenger door link broke ( it had a lash up repair a while ago). I don't know the ins and outs of remote locking systems. Help!

Someone can correct me, but as far as I know, the 968 never had factory remote options.

That being said, if things were done clean, they would have tied into the alarm module and the window wiring harness.

The microswitch from the doors both go back to the module, there are triggers for both lock and unlock. It is the box under the passenger footwell in the NA, not sure for RHD cars.

I would look in there, see if you can find the wireless module and lookup the wiring diagram.

I do wonder if the original installer tapped into the wires in the doors instead of the central location (something installers will do if they have no clue were the wiring terminates too)

Also is it possible with a dead battery you have to resync the FOBs?

It is an aftermarket addition.

you may have one that needs to "pair". you will need to identify the make and model and then find the instructions.
