I repaired both buttons on mine last summer. Unfortunately the only way to get the buttons off is to pry them, they have tabs on 3 of the corners that hold them on. In the end you'll end up replacing the plastic that surrounds the button (as long as you don't break the tabs), the surrounds are $2.80 each and a week away coming from Germany. Once you have the button out there are copper pads that have an open "U" shape to them. when you press the button open "U" shape flattens and touches the contact below it. Chances are there is something wrong with the U shaped pad or the contact below it. Get in touch with Jeff at Sunset and have him order you the parts, in total I spent about $10 on two buttons, two surrounds and two new pads. The repair takes about 15-20 minutes.

I think the steering wheel was first used by VW and handed down to Porsche. We had a 90 VW cab that had the same wheel but with volks on it. Did the S2 use that wheel?
