My car does not have torsion bars. Hence the torsion tube support wing doesn't have a function anymore, or has it? I removed my coilovers again yesterday (leaking!!!) and started thinking.
I recall having seen a car with the wings cut off but when I remove the bolt that connects the wing to the bushing and move the hub up and down it is clear that this point in the suspension is still taking up some load. I'm guessing it is a twisting motion that comes from the friction in the spring plate bushings.
The thing is that I would like to cut these off in order to get extra clearance for my coilovers (the spring is rubbing the wing). Is this a no-no or not?
