If you have laser shifters, jammers, etc.. and drive in CA, WATCH OUT !! it's not as simple as those things being "illegal" and paying a fine.. as opposed to a radar detectors for which you might get a slap on the hand, for some reason jamming a police radar can ( and most likely will be ) be charged as a FELONY ! Yes, mandatory jail time, and you're looking at around $ 5,000 when all's said and done.. the cost equivalent of a timing belt breaking and engine rebuilt [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif[/img] It may depend on the county, and just how overzealous the DA is, but you'll be SOL no matter what .
One of the local TV stations had an expose on some poor bas*ard who had the laser shifters on the front and rear of his car...When the CHP pointed the laser at his vehicle and realized their instrument is "not reading ", they fabricated a probable cause to pull him over ( good luck fighting that in court ! ) and found the shifters. The charges: deliberate obstruction of justice while committing a moving violation, and here's the f'n BS : attempt to flee the authorities in the process of committing a crime - even though he did no such thing, the presence of the laser jammer apparently constitutes "intent to flee". What ??!! His attorney is appealing, but whether financially or/and criminal record, the guy is f**ked !

I'd rather take the speeding ticket.

i just bought a new beltronics GX65 - it not only detects speed cameras, but also red light cameras - it also has the ability to download updates on those

Thanks, Flash. The number of speed cameras is increasing in the DC area. It just a money making proposition as there are no points or insurance penalty.
