As the name implies I am ready to get rid of the dangly cord hanging from the cigarette lighter. I want to use a circuit that turns on with the car so that I don't have to unplug the detector. Any suggestions?

i ran a new one up to the mirror, tapping the switched hot lead for the radio, because i wanted switched hot and not constant hot

I was lazier. Because I always remove my radar detector due to thief bait qualities I opted for the light between the sun visors as the (constant) power source. When not in use I tuck the short cable above the visor.
