I received the RS Barn chip last week and asked my mechanic to install it while the car was in the shop.
I spoke to him yesterday about doing a few additional things while he still has the car. He's fairly pragmatic about his work, but during the conversation he's telling me, "Oh my God, I put the chip in... you MUST check out the difference. You will FLIP OUT. Holy Cow, etc, etc, etc."
It got my attention because chipping a N/A car has been mediocre, at best, in my experience.

I believe that everyone here will agree that any of the leading performance chips will enhance your driving experience, many will also agree with me that RS Barn's chip is superior. They also offer a trade in policy if you decide to make further upgrades to your 968 (i.e. header, etc.). The stage 1 chip is , to my knowledge, also the only chip to have been tuned with the Air Box modification, giving it a significant advantage for those users.
RS barn is also a shop that is almost exclusively dedicated to performance upgrades for 944/968s, so it helps our community to support them.
Compare and make your own choice.

Jay

I finally got a RS Barn stage 1 chip and I can say it's worth it . The slight surge I had is gone, acceleration is smoother and the butt-o-meter shows a slight power increase (no idea about MPG . Unfortunately with my Tip the red line does not seem to have changed much (if at all); I'm sure the fuel cut off has raised but the trans computer must control the shift points. 1-2 shift is at 6500 and 2-3 shift is at 6800; the road I was on wasn't long enough for a 3-4 shift but I'm sure it will be about the same as the 2-3. Our local PCA is having a tour soon and if I can manage to go Ill have a better idea of the improvement .
Thanks Pete!

Ok I wanna go fast too......................BUT.........how far dare I push that red line without shorting the life of her. I'm a 4k shifter always. What is correct for daily driving? Will the chip hurt her seeing she has 88k on her now?
Thanks
Ross

I think the dyno would show that there is no real point to revving over 6,700 since the power drops off above that range.
I usually shift around 5,500 for spirited driving....I love WOT with the header...

Ross,
Putting a chip in a normally driven car should not hurt the engine at all; especially a stage 1 (your mileage will suffer a bit), what the chip does is tweak the timing and fuel a bit but nothing crazy. As for over revving the engine, that's all up to you and your need for speed.
I drove my car a bit more today and can say for sure that driving normal is improved with the chip.

I just installed the RS Barn Stage 2 chip, did the airbox mod, installed the RS Barn header plus everything else exhaust and had the head gasket replaced (the last two were needed, not an option). A lot of things at once but the result is very impressive. I have not yet been above 5000 rpm but it sure pulls harder and is smoother. No knocking at all - the previous Autothority chip really knocked a lot and I got rid of it and went back to stock once I figured out that it was in the car. I would recommend this setup to anyone.
