Noticing a sucking sound after air box mod and RSB chip
#1

I just finished doing the airbox mod and installing my RSBarn stage1 chip. Of course I couldn't wait until the weekend and took the 968 out for a little spin.

First off, this combo rocks! I didn't have any specific expectations but I was hoping I'd at least notice a little seat of the pants difference. When I went out for the drive I was blown away Not that this turned the car into something completely different but it does feel like it's revving easier and smoother and there's definitly a little push you back in your seat feeling that was never there before. I can't wait for the next track day I'll be able to go to where I'll really be able to open it up.

Now for my question. As soon as I started up the car after getting everything in place I noticed a very audible sucking sound coming from the passenger footwell area (I couldn't pinpoint it exactly from the driver's seat). It seems to be loudest when there isn't any load on the engine and gradually quiets down as more load is applied to the engine. Also I when I shut the car down it continued for a few seconds before stopping. The car did run just fine out on the road.
One thing to note is that I didn't fully button up the footwell area and the wood panel isn't re-installed at this point (I wanted to make sure everything was good before closing it back up). Thus it's possible that this has been there all along and I've never noticed it because the wood provided enough insulation to hide the sound.

If I had to guess I'd say this is the fuel pump that I'm hearing, but I'm no expert (yet) so I wanted to see what other opinions would be.

Thanks,
Tim

The fuel pump is at the rear under the fuel tank, so it doesn't sound likely to me. Maybe there is a leak on the hose for the ABS pump. I believe it is in the passenger footwell area. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I finally had a chance to get down there and take a look at what I did when changing out the chip and got it fixed. It wasn't the fuel pump (obviously) or the ABS pump.

I had apparently knocked off a small air hose under the dash that looks like it went to control some HVAC piece. Once I reconnected it the sucking sound went away. I'm not sure what it was for but it is nice to have the sound gone

it drives the HCV (heater control valve) - good catch! just in time for winter, when you will be wanting that heater, which would not have worked without that hose connected
